Biography

Neal Edelstein is an award-winning independent film producer and is known as an early technology adopter who has consistently pushed the envelope in creating new experiences for audiences. A native of Chicago and New Trier High School Alum[1], he began his film career in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. In 1997, Edelstein produced David Lynch’s segment in the French film Lumiere and Company, shot with the original Lumiere brothers’ camera. After completion of the film, Edelstein and Lynch became partners in The Picture Factory, where Edelstein produced The Straight Story and Mulholland Drive, as well as worked with Lynch to conceive and launch DavidLynch.com.

Following Mulholland Drive, Edelstein formed Macari/Edelstein Filmed Entertainment with New Line Cinema executive Mike Macari. Their first project was the successful American remake of the Japanese horror film The Ring[2], followed by The Ring Two. Edelstein was instrumental in creating the viral marketing campaign for The Ring with director Gore Verbinski. Other credits include Disney-distributed The Invisible, directed by David Goyer, and 6 Souls, starring Julianne Moore and Jonathan Rhyes Meyers.

Edelstein is the founder of Hooked Digital Media[3], a production company that delivers filmed stories for the mobile and tablet generation. Hooked Digital Media unites movie making savvy with the exuberance of a startup technology venture.[4]
