Mellempudi is a small village in Tadepalli mandel, Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh. Its Pincode is 522303 and coordinates: 16°25'32"N 80°37'33"E. It is 9 km from Vijayawada, 9 km to Mangalagiri, 22 km to Tenali and 30 km away from Guntur.
It is a wealthy village with most people working as farmers, also most of them are well settled. This village is one of the most well educated villages in AP. This village does not have water problems, because getting very tasty water is just 15–20 ft from surface.
The village land is good for agriculture. Main crops are banana (arati), turmeric (pasupu) the famous Duggirala pasupu is from this village & surrounding villages, maize(mokkajonna), paddy(vari-rice), sugarcane(cheraku), blackgrams(minumulu), cauliflower, kanda and vegetables and also flowers like Jasmine, Rose, Kanakambaram etc..
There is a bus services (215) from Vijayawada to Chirravuru of APSRTC. The people in this village also depending on private transportation. The wealth of the village is water resources and land (its gold).
For education, this village has one primary school named Mandal Parishath Upper Primary School (M.P.U.P School). Years back this village found devotional statues of Various Hindu gods (ancient Idles) which were recovered from excavation and build Temples of Lord Vigneshwara and Lord Shiva with very beautiful sculpture and organizing devotional activities for every festivals. As usual annual days for the temples also.
As far as the politics are concerned, the village is divided into Congress, YSR Congress and TDP groups. Many turned to YSR Congress party. Some BJP followers are also in this village.
There are good schools and colleges near to the village. The famous Koneru Lakshmiah College of Engineering (now KL University) is just a 2 minute ride (1KM) from the village. As the village is near to all comforts (cities, schools, colleges) people lead a pleasant life. In olden days the village people had good knowledge and shares in Mumbai Share Market. The village is also termed as Mini Bombay.
There are temples of Sri Rama, lord Venugopala Swamy, lord Shiva, lord Vinayaka, a mosque and two churches. ..
