Flaaffy (モココ Mokoko in Japan, Waaty in Germany and Lainergie in France) is a Electric Pokémon from the Pokémon series of games. It is listed as Pokémon #180 in the National Pokédex, and #328 in the Hoenn Pokédex.
Flaaffy is a portmanteau of "fluffy" and "baa" (the onomatopoeic sound made by a sheep).
Availability
In Pokemon Colosseum, a Shadow Flaaffy can be snagged from Street Performer Diogo in Pyrite Town. Otherwise, Flaaffy is obtained by evolving a level 15 Mareep, who is available in Pokemon Gold, Silver, XD and Emerald.
Information
Flaaffy stores electricity in its fleece, and its skin is electrically-resistant (feeling almost rubbery), preventing electrocution. However, storing too much electricity can cause patches where no fur will grow. To compensate, the quality of Flaaffy's fur increases as it matures, enabling it to store larger amounts of electricity without side-effects. When threatened, or dangerously low on voltage, the tail bulb will fade to indicate to others that it is in danger.
Flaaffy is dark pink in colour. Its fleece is white, and it grows over the top half of its body and its head. It has black stripes on its ears and its long tail, and it has small, beady eyes that look like black dots. It has a blue ball on the tip of its tail. Flaaffy usually likes to sit upright, although it can stand on two legs if necessary.
In the Trading Card Game
Flaaffy has made several appearances in the TCG. All were as an electric stage 1 Pokémon unless otherwise stated. Flaaffy appeared in the following expansions:
- Neo Genesis
- Neo Destiny
- Neo Revelation
- Aquapolis
- Expedition
- EX: Dragon
- EX: Team Rocket Returns (Dark Flaaffy)
- EX: Unseen Forces
