Payback (2015) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It will take place on May 17, 2015, at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.[1] It will be the third event under the Payback chronology. It will be the first Payback event to be held outside of Rosemont.

Background

Payback will feature professional wrestling matches that involve wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that play out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.[2][3]

At Extreme Rules, John Cena defeated Rusev in a Russian Chain match to retain the United States Championship. Later in the event, after visiting the Authority, Lana announced that Cena would defend the title against Rusev in an "I Quit" match at the event.[4]

At Extreme Rules, Seth Rollins defeated Randy Orton in a Steel Cage match to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.[4] On the April 27 episode of Raw, by vote on the WWE App, it was announced that Rollins would defend the title against Orton and Roman Reigns in a triple threat match at the event.[5]
