Good evening. Your information about Luke Harper's relationship status is wrong. He is no longer married. He has 2 children, a son and daughter. There is a newer article on him. Hi, is it possible to restore some of the information about Wilson Lee Flores in order to be more complete? I understand the requirements on sources or references... Regarding the journalism and literature awards of Wilson Lee Flores, plus his acquisition of the 76-year-old Kamuning Bakery Cafe, here are some citations in recent national newspapers of the Philippines... I don't know how to add citations in Wikipedia... http://www.manilatimes.net/wilson-lee-flores-and-the-good-of-baking-bread/185963/ Also, here is another source from the Philippines' biggest television network ABS CBN news on the background of Wilson Lee Flores and his purchase and revival of this Kamuning Bakery http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/business/05/30/15/how-quezon-citys-first-bakery-got-new-lease-life This is the news article on the front-page of the Philippine Star on the awards of Wilson Lee Flores, who is a columnist of this same national newspaper for your reference http://www.philstar.com/headlines/2014/11/02/1387184/star-columnists-win-cmma-awards Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 110.55.100.13 (talk) 06:55, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi Materialscientist. You removed an external link from the GoGo squeeZ page. The page contains a warning that it reads more like a commercial (promotional material). I was trying to make the page more objective by citing opposition to the product. it has been a serious and valid claim for many consumers, and the Facebook page was the most accessible way of showing that. GoGo SqueeZ's web presence is clearly curated by their marketing team, and a simple warning of content seeming promotional is not a sufficient standard for an encyclopedia to have. Please let me know other ways we can get this information out.
Thank you. --2601:244:4D00:1F73:DAA2:5EFF:FE98:6B24 (talk) 15:25, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi I am new to wiki editing. Today you have removed true information of diver and scientist observation of greenland sharks sprinting to attack prey. Why??
hello, while i am new to the editing process,(&im not sure who you are to tell me that my edits aren't credible) i have EXTREMLY credible sources about the page(Thomas &Mack) i edited. you removed all of my edits to the page that merely updated the info to current standings of said page. also many of said changes are not only from sources from said "page" but are also public knowledge(ie newspaper, net, etc). that said i also question some the sources that someone else used to edit the page and info that's on it, as directors of said page that i edited have NO KNOWLEDGE of some of those items, so i adjusted those, just in case it(events) didn't actually happen. please contact me ASAP so i can re-correct the page so that it is current and more useful to the public that might use it. im not sure if you can contact me though my page, & it would be preferred to do so in private. You have repeatedly changed the biography of GEN(R) Robert W. Cone without appropriate reference. The reference you cite supports Cone's retirement, not his stationing in Afghanistan . The false report that Cone is in Afghanistan supports an ongoing scam designed to fraudulently obtain money from innocent victims. CHECK THE REFERENCE YOU ARE USING! Hello again, i was wondering why you deleted my edit of the news story about the two "Russian soldiers". Wikipedia presented only the claims of one side of the story- that they are active duty Russian special forces members of the GRU. I added the version of the other side of the story: that the DPR claims they were FORMER Russian soldiers who now worked as policemen. This was declared by the DPR's top military commander and I can give you the video if you want. Why not add pending changes? It's been protected many times. --George Ho (talk) 16:50, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't follow the logic. It's been protected many times because of persistent vandalism, and thus pending changes would only increase the load on reviewers. PC is efficient in low-traffic articles and/or where IPs bring useful updates (like footballers, etc.). Here the knowledge is stable, but there is an infinite flow of personal opinions on the priority of his inventions. Materialscientist (talk) 22:38, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
- The article can be semi-protected and pending changes simultaneously (especially when semi-protection expires). --George Ho (talk) 02:39, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Question about way to deal with reports
Hi, and thanks for the enormous amount of work you put into Wikipedia! I don't even know how you find time for it all, but it's very much appreciated. One thing I've been wondering about for quite some time, and it's not particularly related to you but to how admins deal with reports. Most pages where reports are filed, be it vandalism or edit warring or page protection or something similar, it seems most admins start with the latest report rather than with the oldest. This creates quite large discrepancies, I've noticed, where some reports are dealt with in a matter of minutes while others linger for hours or even days. I'm no admin but I have quite a bit on experience on user psychology and process treatment, and this practice of starting with the latest rather than the oldest almost certainly plays a part in the backlogs that often arise. It's humanly natural to think "Hm, that has been there a while, it can wait" and so no admin touches it, just focusing on the most recent report as well. That is, if admins function like normal human beings, and I believe it's the case ;) There can of course be other reasons (I could think of several on the top of my head), but all things considered, weighing pros and cons, it would probably be beneficial for the project as a whole if admins dealt with reports on a FIFO rather than a FILO basis. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!Jeppiz (talk) 22:59, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Change to an article
Hi
This is regarding the Daler Mehndi page on wiki.
I have an image of him that I have clicked myself. I want it to be his profile picture. However when I tried doing that, Wiki said I am not allowed as of now from this user id. I have no clue why. I have been struggling with this since quite sometime.
Also, can you also help me over how to put something about a person which is not in the public domain? I do not have any online sources but have been provided the information by his own team. So its first hand info. I really hope you can provide with a quick solution.
Thank You

Possum picture
Hi, I've noticed you've reverted my picture of the Australian possum because you said the other one had better contrast. If you prefer I can adjust the contrast of mine or I have others if you want to look at them, but I think it would be better to have a day picture rather than a night picture with the flash, as the colours are more real etc. What do you think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iacchi86 (talk • contribs) 08:17, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- File:Trichosurus vulpecula 1.jpg is a much cleaner shot for composition and lack of distracting details; night/day colors are a weak argument. I won't change contrast in your image, because it won't help much. Materialscientist (talk) 08:22, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
Well-overdue thanks
Hello MS, I was just looking through the revision history of my user page and (for the first time) noticed this little matter, and wanted to thank you for the block that followed. It seems from the vandals contribs it was one of a number of socks of a troll that has been hounding Johnny Cash for ages under both IP and a string of quickly-blocked auto-confirmed accounts. On a side note, I took a looking at that article when look at said contribs, and it would seem the vandalism has continued unabated in the intervening months. I'd say the page could benefit from some semi-protection until the vandal gives up and goes away, but honestly he'll just create more socks to block. Tedious this one is. But anyway, thank you for the swift action on that! Snow let's rap 08:53, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
User talk:50.46.123.24 (ON THE CATALYTIC OXIDATION OF AMMONIA TO NITROUS OXIDE)
Dear "Material Scientist"
Why did you revert my change to the "Nitrous Oxide" Article; I deleted the"Ostwald” part/ link about oxidizing ammonia to nitrous oxide? You are clearly ignorant on the topic. An Ostwald oxidation is a process for making NO (Nitric Oxide). It is NOT a practical way to manufacture N2O (Nitrous Oxide). (Although it can produce some small amount of N2O as an unwanted byproduct, apparently). There is a special catalyst system for which you can prep N20 from ammonia using a completely different catalyst; see the footnote alluding to the Japanese patent. One might think that a “Material Scientist” might have caught the catalyst difference; and it’s implications?). I don’t know if the process ever became commercially viable. I made no note on why I did the “Ostwald” deletion because it did not occur to me that someone would just blindly revert back to a gross error!
I was the original author of at least the bulk of the ‘preparation’ section of the article years ago. What little was there before was grossly inadequate and misleading; (dangers of the process were not emphasized). Much of what I wrote was inspired by the master-work N20, Nitrous Oxide/N20 by Edmond Eger II, Elsevier, 1985: (A copy of which I am holding right now.) My entry about the oxidation of NH3 to N20 was inspired by that text; page 29. The footnote to the Japanese patent appears correct. I have been in chemistry since the seventies, I had spent many weeks in academic libraries studying N20 production, hazards and toxicity years before Dr. Egers published his great book; pulling a lot of what I already knew and more into one source. Me and my main partner in crime actually ran the pyrolysis of ammonium nitrate to nitrous oxide prep reaction at a kilogram scale multiple times; but that was decades ago, before Oklahoma City. . . It not a trivial thing to avoid blowing your self up, starting fires and otherwise poisoning your self with this process. That is why I wrote the article. To discourage amateurs from lightly going stumbling into, almost literally, a minefield without proper knowledge and skills.
In the last several years all sort of stupid little changes were made to article, degrading it from what I consider my superior original; which was very carefully thought out based both on study and practical experience. Nobody seemed to be policing the article then for all those lame changes? Such as why did this dink put in this totally obscure HISTORICAL reference to some unknown guy in Jersey that I never heard of making nitrous first. This was a process/prep section; not a history section!? And on an on. . .including deletions. But I just bit my lip and shined. Until this gross error.
So check out the facts before you just jump on a change. Maybe when this happens somebody actually knew better. Edit things you actually know about; (or at least don’t if your not gonna even spend 5 minutes on Google checking out the basics facts)
Paul
- Try to be more careful, i.e., when deleting text don't break the prose flow and leave an ample edit summary. I don't object what you're saying, but it's not that clear either - the article was saying "cf. Ostwald process", not that the Ostwald process was used for the production. Materialscientist (talk) 21:48, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
Material Scientist:
I get it now. I see your point. It's the use and meaning of the abbreviatin of "cf." I had never seen this abbreveiation and neither had my wife; and this this after reading many hundreds of peer reveiwed articles.
This is way too obscure and I think most readers would just assume that the Ostwald hyperlink links to the actual japanese process. Come-on! a rare latin abbreviation for "confer" is gonna be generally known to mean "compare" or "contrast!" Wikipedia is lately becoming the opposite of concise and clear, all over the place in general, by the use of the use of rare and obscure vocabulary, jargon and abbeviations. This is Obfuscation not Edification.
Paul — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.46.123.24 (talk) 22:21, 26 April 2015 (UTC)
- Cf. is one of those few Latin abbreviations/words that are very common in (scientific) literature. I do encounter it daily. Materialscientist (talk) 22:25, 26 April 2015 (UTC)

Muscovite
I am writing to you, as you have been prolific editor of the above page, and a basic error needs to be corrected, perhaps preferably by active contributors of the article.
The error is that this article is a duplication of a much more extensive and complete article under the title of Mica, a duplication, which is unnecessary and creates confusion.
I would like to suggest, that the two articles be merged and either the Muscovite article, or the MIca article to become a redirection. Regards, LouisBB (talk) 06:01, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
- Muscovite is a mineral from the mica class; contrary to mica, it has well-defined properties, as can be seen in the infobox. Also, while muscovite is exclusively mineral, mica is also a well-known electronic material. I don't think it is reasonable to merge any of these articles. Materialscientist (talk) 06:08, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. In the article 'mica' is mentionned but not in the taxobox, nor as the group of minerals in which muscovite belongs. Perhaps this ought to be included, especially as 'muscovite' is mentionned in the 'mica' article as one of the two most important mica-s. LouisBB (talk) 09:37, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
Bain & Co report is inappropriate?
Hi Materialscientist, you rolled back https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Diamonds_as_an_investment&diff=cur&oldid=659147008 . The referenced report published by Bain & Co (http://www.bain.com/) details out many aspects that are very relevant to the topic of this article. Bain & Co as a reference is appropriate, and I therefore would ask you to reassess your decision. Maybe you reverted this edit due to the second link which was included as an example. If that was the case, then could the edit be reinstated without this last link? You also reverted a few other edits. All of them are factual, I can provide alternative sources/references if needed. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Diamantexpert (talk • contribs) 07:32, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
- My reverts aimed not at the edits, but at the external links you added - bain.com pages are spam by the standards of this wiki (see WP:SOAP). Materialscientist (talk) 07:34, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Materialscientist: Thank you for your quick answer. A report by bain.com was already cited and still is reference number 3 in this same https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamonds_as_an_investment . Bain & Co is one of the Big Three management consulting firms, their reports are cited throughout many industries. If the problem is the format of the reference (PDF vs web page), then the full report that I was referring to can be downloaded at http://www.bain.com/Images/BAIN_REPORT_The_Global_Diamond_Report_2014.pdf . Would this PDF version be acceptable for this wiki? I did not see anything in WP:SOAP that disqualifies Bain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bain_%26_Company) from being cited as a source? Just trying to be helpful here, I am new to wikipedia and wish to contribute my expertise in the specific industry of interest. Diamantexpert (talk) 08:22, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi!
Forgive me if I'm doing this wrong (I haven't edited wikipedia pages in ages!)
Anyhow - I just received a message telling me to refrain from editing pages like "displacement/fluid." I'm always willing to accept blame for something, but I never edited that page. In fact, I've never even *visited* that page!
Perhaps you had my IP mixed up with someone else (I wasn't logged in to Wikipedia when I got it)? Whatever the reason, I honestly have no idea what that message was about.
I hope you were able to reach the actual culprit. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.183.162.14 (talk) 04:06, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Problem with archiving at Leona Lewis
Hi, yesterday I created Talk:Leona Lewis/Archive 3 with the hope that the bot would archive discussions to it, but this morning the bot created Talk:Leona Lewis/Archive 11 and archived everything to there instead, showing a red link for archive 10 previously, but oddly a red link for archive 4 after. Hi There,
In reference the amendment of "Isaac Honey" page. I corrected the spelling of his name as "Honey" is incorrect. The correct spelling is "Honny".
I am his agent. I do not have any source material to link to, but I do have a copy of his passport.
I would appreciate you changing back to my edit with correct spelling of surname. Also, I could not find where to edit the title where his name is also incorrect.

I live in this country and I hear about these events on the radio, I read about them on the newspapers, and they are shown on TV, day after day. Well, I guess I can write about something that I hear and see in my own words. Article: "Cinco de Mayo" protection
With respect to article protection:
- I'm not getting the lock icon at the top of the page, the red banner took me by surprise.
- I think 3 years is excessive for edits (maybe even for the moves, I'm not sure on that one).
- In any case of this type of protection (12 or more months) I think the expiration date should always be set to May 6th, in all cases (to me, that's obviously the date when the prolific non-productive edits will stop (just my common sense of the matter)).
Thanks for your consideration. —Aladdin Sane (talk) 19:33, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person (Reinaldo Azevedo), but that you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Materialscientist (talk) 03:34, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
- My mistake, but I couldn't find any reference in english, just in portuguese. If the language is not a problem, a reference like this (http://www.institutoliberal.org.br/blog/direita-brasil-e-sua-demanda-reprimida) cites in portuguese most of the top neocon brazilian bloggers. There are lots of others but I haven't found any in english. PaulRamone2 (talk) 00:50, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
- English is preferred, but other languages are fine, it should just be a reliable source. Materialscientist (talk) 02:12, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
- At first, I thought it wouldn't be a problem to not cite any external reference as his conservative political positions are stated in the portuguese version of wikipedia and nodoby there denies it: "...jornalista político brasileiro, de orientação política conservadora..." List of U.S. Presidential relatives
I made the edit because Geni.com is not a reliable source. It's a user-built site just like a wiki, and does not use reliable sources much of the time. Also, most of the relationships are so distant that they are not worthy of mention, and some of the facts listed are obviously incorrect (for example, Dolley Madison and Martha Washington were not sisters).75.142.54.211 (talk) 04:14, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello Materialscientist! I am a new Wikipedian in the Dutch Wikipedia, and I have a goal. But I don't know if it would fit in Wikipedia. I want to make a portal that's all about Hotels. Is that able to fit in Wikipedia? LucasdB (talk) 09:25, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- Dr. Blofeld (talk · contribs) is a specialist in this topic (though it is not his favorite). I am not. Materialscientist (talk) 09:26, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
- I wouldn't object to it provided that the focus is on the five star/architectural oriented hotels rather than appearing as an advertisment. The problem is that such a portal is only going to be very narrow in coverage and should be changed each month and kept fresh. Are you willing to commit to that long term? Otherwise I don't see the point.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:29, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

Capitalized animal names
I noticed you moved Greylag Goose to Greylag goose. I have wanted for some time to do similar changes to other articles, such as German Shepherd, Cotton Patch Goose and others. There seems to be a lot of them. Would you agree that these changes should be made. I ask because a lot of people seem to like to capitalize certain animal names so I thought I would see what someone else thought before I start getting lots of reverts. The names in the content of the articles also need changing. Jodosma (talk) 10:59, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
- See MOS:LIFE. In general, wild animals are not capitalized, but breeds are, thus hold on with your moves. Materialscientist (talk) 11:06, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry to take so long to reply. I understand what you are saying but the word "goose" should never be capitalised unless it is a proper noun, even in breed names. For example, in the name of "cotton patch goose", "cotton patch" should be capitalised if "cotton patch" is a proper noun phrase, but "goose" should remain lower case throughout; goose should never be capitalised unless it refers to someone or something whose name is "Goose". Checkuser data is too old to confirm, but based on behavior, this new account is a likely sock. Would you mind stepping in and blocking it please? Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 14:32, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Damaging attempted outing
Dear Materialscientist,
My name is Grace Kosaka and I am an actor, writer and film producer.
On Dec 29, 2014 a user by the name of Familyismostimportant, posted unreferenced information on my page. As an actor, I have previously been stalked and this public posting of sensitive/inaccurate information puts me at significant risk.
More recently, on March 28, 2015 an individual with the IP 174.117.108.144 attempted to out me with respect to my sexual preference - as an actor this is particularly damaging. This entry was tagged by wiki as 'possible BLP issue or vanadalism'.
I am kindly requesting your help with respect to your check user status to establish the identity of these two individuals as I may need to take legal action to stop further attacks.
Any help you could provide me would be greatly appreciated.

- (talk page stalker)Hello, (full disclosure, I am not an administrator nor am I affiliated with the Wikimedia Foundation) The edits made were clear BLP violations, and I am sorry that you have been targeted in such a fashion. One solution to this problem is to delete the page, as you don't appear to meet wikipedia's notability policies (yet), this would also eliminate stalkers ability to harass you through Wikipedia. Additionally while I cannot provide legal advice, you can few a whois of the ip here which lists an abuse email as abuse@rogers.com, you may wish to contact them. Vandal's return
Materialscientist, IP 98.112.201.139, who you blocked for a week on April 12 for vandalizing various Dancing with the Stars season articles—this was one of a couple of IPs doing the same sort of thing—has just made similar edits to the season 17 and 19 articles, replacing accurate numbers with inaccurate ones.
Can I ask for a longer block this time? The IP's other account, 207.233.31.49, was blocked for a month by you on April 9 for making the same kind of vandalizing edits. I'm rather expecting to see this other IP show up now that its block has just expired...
Thank you very much. BlueMoonset (talk) 06:03, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
I am tire Materialscientist. I am going to bed, but spent 3 hours updating that page on John Xuna (I am John Xuna). I am running for Congress, and I noticed it was not updated, and had some errors. I did not originate that page, probably my son, or a relative or friend did, years ago. I remember I had corrected some errors one day, after I noticed the page. Todays changes were necessary becuase it was kind of difficult to read, and had not been updated in several years.
Please, accepts the changes, otherwise all I did is lost. It looked good after the revision. Then I went back to change a few syntactical errors. And now I see you put everything back to square one. :O( John Xuna (talk) 07:28, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

Dear Sir,
I did remove few minutes ago some words from section describing period of German occupation in Estonia(1941-1944).I did this because the earlier version was not based on facts - prewar number of Estonian Jews was approximately 4300 people.During first Soviet occupation(1940-1941)about 500 Jewish people were arrested/imprisoned or deported, 1941 most of the Estonian Jewish minority fled to Soviet rear with Soviet forces(about 2500 people).Approximately 1000 people decided to stay in Estonia - almost all of them perished during German occupation. Unfortunately Nazi Germany authorities transported prisoners (great number of Jewish origin) to Estonia during occupation - their number is according to some sources ca 25000. Nazi atrocities are described in detail in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holocaust_in_Estonia.
Its not good to leave in Wikipedia information which is not correct and based on facts. There is no point to talk about Nazis murdering tens of thousands on Estonian Jews if the correct number was ca 1000 people(most of the Estonian Jews did survive the war -while being in Soviet Union). The smaller number does not lessen Nazi crimes or the general outcome of their actions. The exact numbers will give more authority to the information available in Wikipedia.
With best wishes,R.S. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.196.103.53 (talk) 12:07, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

New User Asks
Hey there, I am very new to this and thought I'd try out editing something that I thought to be incorrect on the page for the Wood frog. You however labelled this change as vandalism. All I was trying to point out on this page was that it says that this species of frog, like many others, hibernates, which is incorrect, as, by definition, an ectotherm cannot do.
a question:
How is reverting to an "update" for an event that hasn't happened yet justifiable as a "Good faith edit" and not a prohibited "Crystal ball" edit? I'm genuinely confused. Absurdist1968 (talk) 23:17, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Materialscientist! I see that you blocked User:73.136.186.56, but only for 31 hours. I agree that's appropriate for what appears to be a new account, but I recognize this user. Under a previous IP, User:98.197.200.120, they were blocked multiple times, the most recent for a year, not yet expired.[9] This is obviously the same user. They post nonsense in Spanish or Spanglish, always about "dignity" "sardigna" "velasquez" "queen of versailles" ""queen of heaven" etc. I have had several of their favorite pages on my watchlist so I know when they resurface. Would you be willing to put them on your watchlist so that you can deal appropriately with them if and when they become a problem again? Thanks so much! --MelanieN (talk) 04:08, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Master suppression techniques
Please restore all of my changes to the master suppression techniques. I am new to editing on Wikipedia and I did not know we were supposed to leave notes as to why we change something. However, I think it is quite clear in what I added in the page as it all had clear references.
The first change quotes a Swedish study which confirms that master suppression techniques are not just a gender issue. It is not constructive to victimize women and criminalize men in this way. Suppression techniques is a social phenomenon that happens between people who possess or desire power and others that do not.
The other changes I made were incorrect links to articles. It said you were sent to an article but you were sent to an EU project page, they are related but you cannot find the article through that link. I think it important to include the direct link to the pdf where English readers can access these studies.

REPLY
Hello Materialscientist:
Sorry for my delay in replying to your admonishing email which suggested that I “vandalized the Apostolic Vicariate of Calapan page,” and that my edits to Barbecue grill “did not appear constructive.”
I was completely taken aback by your assertions and respectfully take issue with your claims; they are completely wrong.
Before I began editing I looked at Category: All articles needing copy in order to find pages that needed editing. At the top of that page, it states:
“These articles should be copy edited, to clean up their prose”
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:All_articles_needing_copy_edit
I have perused the Wikipedia: Vandalism page as well, trying to understand exactly why you would make such claims, and saw I did none of the things listed there. Everything was based on good faith and the edits I made streamlined jerky, disjointed sentence structure, adding to the clarity, continuity and flow of paragraphs while keeping the content intact. I did avoid changing or adding additional footnotes because I am definitely not an expert in Filipino Catholicism and only have basic knowledge of barbeque traditions.
So, in the future I would respectfully ask that perhaps you should be more thorough and attentive before making assertions about vandalism.
Yes, obviously I am new to Wikipedia and am finding my way, but my actions were thoughtful and aimed only at improving the readability of the texts I was directed to. On one of the official pages, the phrase “Be bold” is emphasized, but now that seems a bit of a false positive and difficult to do, what with all of the rules and gatekeepers seemingly jumping to the wrong conclusions. The Wikipedia: Vandalism page does state very clearly that Mislabeling good-faith edits as vandalism can be considered harmful.
Thanks for your consideration,
BeBop9154

Wikipedia: Vandalism
Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content, in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. Examples of typical vandalism are adding irrelevant obscenities and crude humor to a page, illegitimately blanking pages, and inserting obvious nonsense into a page.
Vandalism is prohibited. While editors are encouraged to warn and educate vandals, warnings are by no means necessary for an administrator to block (although administrators usually only block when multiple warnings have been issued).
Even if misguided, willfully against consensus, or disruptive, any good faith effort to improve the encyclopedia is not vandalism. Edit warring over content is not vandalism. Careful consideration may be required to differentiate between edits that are beneficial, detrimental but well intentioned, and vandalizing. Mislabeling good-faith edits as vandalism can be considered harmful. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BeBop9154 (talk • contribs) 20:34, 11 May 2015 (UTC)

Commons question?
Hi Materialscientist,
Is there a chance you can help me? I don't know if you're active on commons or not, but your the first one I think of when a technical question pops up. I only use commons for uploading photos once in a while. (Personally, I really wasn't happy about having to log in at another site just to upload a photo, and much preferred it when I could just do it from here.)
Anyhow, (long story short) the dog destroyed my camera, so I haven't been on commons for a while. I got a new one, and a had a few ideas for some useful photos. However, when I tried to log in my account was gone. When I check all of my commons-photos there is a red link where it used to be blue. Would a user page get deleted from lack of use? Zaereth (talk) 01:50, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- I use unified login, i.e., when I login here and then go to Commons, they see me as logged in. It seems your account on Commons was taken over by someone (not hijacked, but just sort of usurped due to expiry). Can you link me to any of your edits or image uploads on Commons (which are not image transfers from en.wiki by someone)? Materialscientist (talk) 01:56, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- I see this account on Commons, which has a different name. In such case, you might need a separate login. Materialscientist (talk) 01:57, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- It seems you have two accounts on Commons, Zaereth~commonswiki (which is active) and Zaereth (sort of blank, created automatically). If you wish to unify them, i.e. rename Zaereth~commonswiki to Zaereth, try here. Commons doesn't handle such requests locally anymore. Materialscientist (talk) 02:03, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- Ok. I'll give it a try. In the past it has always been just Zaereth (an Anglicization of the rock band I was listening to when I created my accounts), so it just seemed really strange for it to suddenly be a blank page. I've never heard of this "unified log in." Zaereth (talk) 02:23, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for your assistance, Materialscientist. It seems that they cleared the space to make room for a global account, and didn't realize that the "other" Zaereth at English Wikipedia was also me. (One reason I picked the name is because of its uniqueness, since I found no search results to it on the entire internet at the time.) Hopefully it should be cleared up soon. Thanks again. Tom "Bones" Malone entry
The change was made from 1970 to 1975 as an educated presumption based on the history of Saturday Night Live's inception. The producers of Saturday Night Live would not have contacted Tom Malone in 1970 as the show was still 5 years away from being created. There is a slight chance there might have been discussions with Tom Malone in 1974 in SNL's initial planning stages, but there is no way 1970 is an accurate date for him to have been contacted to work on the show. It appears that the IP started again on May 15 under that address, but also on May 14 as Norwaywind01. Both have been continuing adding the fake scores through the present, sometimes alternating, and are at it right now. I'm about to give them major vandalism warnings, but I think it would be best if they were both blocked. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:40, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
- Note: Norwaywind01 has continued after my warning and subsequent reversions. I hope you see this soon. BlueMoonset (talk) 04:05, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
It seems this user may need to have their talk abilities removed as they continue to add nonsense. Also, it seems this other user has no actual to interest to add useful information and only puts promotional edits (so maybe a block?). Cheers! SwisterTwister talk 06:27, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

Block request 61.41.114.13 - stale
Hi,
I lodged the block request on IP: 61.41.114.13 which you removed saying it is stale. Sorry but I don't understand what is meant by stale, this IP address made its latest vandalism on Camp Walker at 06:53 today. Can you please explain how we stop this user from vandalising the page? thanks Mztourist (talk) 09:25, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
Use of Cd-free QDs for in vivo imaging
The current entry has quite a lot of info on the cytotoxicity of quantum dots due to cadmmium, so needs updating in some way to reflect that Cd-free quantum dots have been investigated now for 4 years or more, and obviously don't have this issue. Not sure how this is best done, thought the UCL program would be a start. What meets the criteria for an encylopedia entry? Maybe sufficient to point out the Cd-free QDs obviate the issues with cadmium cytotoxicity and are the subject of ongoing research for in vivo flourescence since 2011 ?

Dear Materialscientist,
Thank you for getting back to me. I have since added bona fide citations and sources for the expanded and updated entry I submitted for Andrew Tesoriere. You can view these citation(footnotes) I believe under the view history or edit stubs.
If these are in order, I would be grateful for approval for early release of the new entry on Wikipedia.

IP 81.159.179.83 and Causes and times of death
FYI, re your warning at 81.159.179.83 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), I have seen this one before, a few years ago, with another IP of course. This editor seems to randomly change/add times and causes of death on biographies ("on the morning of...", "in the night of...", etc). Sometimes they change birth dates. Almost always unsourced. On rare occasions they get it right--probably accidentally. On some occasions they get it explicitly wrong, like here. There's never an edit summary and there's never a response on user talk page. I could revert most edits of today with Huggle, but for some some reason I don't see their yesterdays edits. Perhaps you can have a look at it? Anyway, I thought you might like to know that this is not the first time they are active. Cheers - DVdm (talk) 18:26, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Powers and abilities for non-superpower characters
When it comes to comic book characters who obviously have no superpowers of any kind, mostly just combat skills, wouldn't it be more accurate on the section heading to say something like Abilities and training or Skills, weapons, and abilities? I'm Confused?
I am very disappointed and confused as to why you tried to change the information from the page I edited. I am a direct relative to this person and know all the information, unfortunately this happened a long time ago which means there are no online resources which is a shame. Although I don't really think it was kind of you to remove something without asking for the reason as to why someone did such a thing if you did think they did something wrong. I did feel quite perplexed as well as shock so if you ever want to move something that I have written please ask me why I wrote it so if I did make a mistake then I can correct it. I feel that this way that I have told you would be more appropriate. Thanks for reading my message please reply if there is anything wrong. Please Actually READ This Message.
Hello it seems you have not read my last message at all! I had wrote to that because the thing I wrote about happened a long time ago there was obviously no technology! So how am I supposed to state a reference or resource if technology was not even invented then. There are no resources on what I have written due to the fact no news pages on the internet are very interested in this. I assure you that I'm sure I would know what is the correct and incorrect information due to the fact I am RELATED to the people I mentioned. Since you are not related you can not make assumptions as to if it is false or true, so until you know everything in the world do not try and use your insufficient amount of information to tell me I'm wrong. Brazil
What is your problem? I just reverted a completely senseless, absurd and ridiculous addition of excess images in the article of Brazil, which was made by new editors (Thiagoreis leon and Thiago Uzumaki). We are in a encyclopedia, not in a tourist pamphlet!!! Too many images leave the layout chaotic and impair the reading of the text. It's sickening to have to explain something basic like this for an experienced editor like you. Have you ever heard about the Manual of Style?! The same applies to article Greater Belo Horizonte. Please, stop revert valid and correct editions relying on nothing! I'm a sysop in the lusophone Wikipedia. I'm not a vandal! Chronus (talk) 15:08, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
publication lists
Is it OK for you to put the list of journal publications of some scientists in compact closed form? An example can be found in my talk page. her is the link: publication lists for two physicists as you know Asım Barut & James Wait. It does not occupy a lot of space and the interested reader can clik the SHOW switch of the Extended content to see these publications. If you don't have any objection I will place them there... 68.100.166.227 (talk) 17:59, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- This might be Ok, but not in the present form - publications should be complete, i.e. contain volume, issue and page numbers. Materialscientist (talk) 21:45, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- Let me first put it there, then we can search the page numbers.
- These are all from "Web Of Science" for Barut, and IEEE Search Web for Wait, for IEEE web an connection is also possible, I will give the link address and anybody can get it..68.100.166.227 (talk) 23:13, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- We can't use links to Web of Science, because they quickly expire and are only available to subscribers. Web of Science allows extracting lists as xls tables, with all publication details (vols, pages, etc.). Materialscientist (talk) 23:21, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- I know that the reader won't be able to see the whole list of the authors publications if he/she is making the search from home or business. But they can enter the name of the author and see all of his/her publications if they are inside the camps of a university. They will reach to the main search page at least. For IEEE publications there is no problem, it gives the whole list and the reader can see the search results from any location.

Hi Materialscientist, Thank you for your comments and note. I believe your deletion of my addition to the LED Lamp article was too quick. Do you realize that you deleted the entire new paragraph - not just the external citation links. I believe the new paragraph was adding valuable new content - about retrofitting technology for LED lamps - which are a significant industry trend not mentioned elsewhere in this encyclopedia. I was trying to research such LED retrofits - and could not find anything on Wikipedia. So I decided to add something! I am not a regular contributor - but I did research the topic carefully and also tried to make the wording of the new addition suitable for an encyclopedia. The external links were directly relevant citations to support the content in the new LED retrofitting section that I was attempting to add. Please re-read the new contribution - and reconsider reversing your deletion. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by ECPL01 (talk • contribs) 12:58, 25 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello from the team at Featured article review!
We are preparing to take a closer look at Featured articles promoted in 2004–2010 that may need a review. We started with a script-compiled list of older FAs that have not had a recent formal review. The next step is to prune the list by removing articles that are still actively maintained, up-to-date, and believed to meet current standards. We know that many of you personally maintain articles that you nominated, so we'd appreciate your help in winnowing the list where appropriate.
Please take a look at the sandbox list, check over the FAs listed by your name, and indicate on the sandbox talk page your assessment of their current status. Likewise, if you have taken on the maintenance of any listed FAs that were originally nominated by a departed editor, please indicate their status. BLPs should be given especially careful consideration.
Thanks for your help! Maralia (talk) 19:39, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

Yes I added that Régine Chassagne is also a songwriter. Most people think her husband Win Butler writes all the band's songs, but I have plenty of evidence that most of the songs are written by Win and Régine together. Unfortunately most of it is from articles it would take me forever to find again, if I could find them at all, so I'll just let it go for now. What I do have is below, just for your personal information.
"At the creative heart of Arcade Fire is the married couple Win Butler and Régine Chassagne. Arguably it's the strongest partnership in rock music, and together they form the songwriting team that has created three of the most essential albums of the past decade."
Butler and his wife, Régine Chassagne, who write the band’s songs together, spent hours in their hotel room, counting the Arcade Fire’s money.
“As Chassagne puts it, ‘I can’t even separate our marriage from the band. They’re the same thing.’ Butler agrees: ‘Some couples mountain-bike together. We write songs.’”
"Régine and I write a lot of lyrics together, so a lot of it’s jumbled up between the two of us."
–– Win Butler
"We were in some shitty hotel in the desert,” remembers Butler, of a 2005 tour that had wound its way to New Mexico. “I started singing in the shower and Régine started singing with me, and this song called My Body Is A Cage came out - and it’s probably the most fully formed song we have ever written."
–– Win Butler
"As Regine and I started writing more, there was a sound of the two or our styles coming together that became realised more. It was real, it wasn’t hypothetical."
–– Win Butler
"I never really think of them being married when the group is working. They write the songs, and the rest of us help turn them into Arcade Fire music."
–– Tim Kingsbury
"While she and Butler originally wrote most the songs together, it was the full band, holed up for varying times in the church, who produced the full album, a process that sounds like it could be chaotic."
"No Cars Go was actually an old song and I think it's the first song where the way Régine and I write together really gelled." –– Win Butler
"Win and Chassagne handle the songwriting duties, but everyone in the band helps develop the music for each track." –– Northwestern University News, Winter 2012
"Win and Régine wrote "Wake Up," which has begun almost every set since."
Back to 20 Important Historical Moments Captured in Song Arcade Fire "Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)" North American ice storm, January 4 – 10, 1998
There was a lot of time to think during the North American ice storm that left Montreal without power for a week -- which is how Arcade Fire's Win Butler and Regine Chassagne came to write "Neighborhood #3," a song based on her experiences during the disaster."
"Their ascent has been the result of smarts, talent (particularly apparent in the songwriting of frontman Win Butler and his wife Regine Chassagne) and hard work." –– diffuser.fm
Arcade Fire has completed the score to The Box According to Pitchfork, Butler has confirmed writing the entire score with his wife and band member Régine Chassagne, as well as band member Owen Pallett.
"Régine and I just wrote a song called Rebellion that I'll bet $50 will be on the record. The others guys haven't even heard it yet." ––Win Butler 2004

The Land of Confusion
On Régine Chassagne's page I added her middle name and I see you removed it. On checking several other celebrities Wikipedia pages I see many with middle names and no citations.
I added 'songwriter' to the line 'multi-instrumentalist musician, singer' and you reverted it to the original, though the original line also has no citations. So there is no proof she is a multi-instrumentalist musician, singer either.
I also changed 'jazz band, Azúcar' to 'with Jimmy Rouleau a member of the jazz duo, Azúcar', and you reverted that to the original 'jazz band, Azúcar', though it has no citation either. (In fact she was never in a 'jazz band'. She sang jazz as a duo with her friend Jimmy Rouleau.)
If you aren't consistent in the way you correct things it's confusing for the user. Someoldfool 11:53, 28 May 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Someoldfool (talk • contribs)

Hi Materialscientist, thanks for the quick action on 46.249.89.84 (talk · contribs). The IP you recently blocked for page blanking Kevin Steen has returned under a different address, could you please block them? See here at Special:Contributions/2001:590:4802:2F9:7E33:D0F6:C23:4311. Thanks! Altamel (talk) 01:19, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

The user Poojanair 82nov
Well also has a couple pages they created for tv channels-yet not sure if a7 would fit for them-though putting a prod would seem almost silly in a way also. Wgolf (talk) 04:13, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
IP you just blocked for 24h for edit-warring is a block-evading troll
You've just blocked Special:Contributions/71.223.46.117, who is rather blatantly the return of Special:Contributions/174.26.204.11, who in return was an incarnation of the I-Hate-Yopie troll per their blocklog. (Also block-evasion, since 174.26.204.11 is still under a block.) Any chance you can mass-rollback their edits and lengthen their block a bit? AddWittyNameHere (talk) 06:16, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- As a blocking admin I am not supposed to take sides in edit-warring disputes. Given the hopping I don't see a need in lengthening the block. Materialscientist (talk) 06:27, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- I know you aren't supposed to take a side in edit-warring disputes. The point is that this isn't edit-warring, this is the umpteenth IPsock of Olivia Winfield, who in return herself was blocked as sock of Satt 2 who was blocked as sock of Polscience. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 06:54, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- AWNH is correct, if it is a block/ban evading person all of their edits are revert on sight. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 11:46, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- No. Admins have no extra reverting tools compared to rollbackers. I would understand a request to mass-rollback because a user has temporal technical issues, otherwise it sounds like meatpuppetting. Materialscientist (talk) 11:52, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- Ah, I thought admins had a way to undo-at-one-click all of an user's contributions. If that's not the case, you're right in that there's no particular reason for you to do the rollback over me. Sorry for the misunderstanding/misremembering. May have been confused due to that recent admin-whoopsie where an admin deleted all of an editor's pages while aiming for someone else. AddWittyNameHere (talk) 15:21, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- Go to the contributions page, Materialscientist, and take a look at the last link in the contributions header. Mine reads "massaal verwijderen", but I'll bet that yours reads something like "remove all contributions". I've never dared press it.—Kww(talk) 15:27, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- Massaal verwijderen is mass delete, which we indeed have as admins. This gadget is optional and is irrelevant to mass rollback. Materialscientist (talk) 21:35, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- Article deletion only? I thought it took care of individual contributions as well. Still glad I never pressed it: as much as people criticise me for being overly quick to delete contributions from banned users, I still like to at least glance at the things before I hit the button.—Kww(talk) 22:48, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
- Same here :-) Materialscientist (talk) 23:14, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Hitchens wikipedia page
You asked if I thought you 'made a mistake' by intervening unasked on this page. No, you just did something wholly unhelpful and prfectly useless. If you can't help, please stay out of this. If you can help, please help. . I was asking for help, and you replied with bureaucracy. I obtained a picture from the person who took it, obtained his written permission for its use, registered it properly according to the instructions at Wikimedia commons . Yet within days a total stranger with no interest in the matter had not only REMOVED the picture, but DELETED the file I had so laboriously created. He made no effort to contact me with his reasons, and I judge his action as wholly unhelpful. What purpose did it serve? He has since left Wikipedia anyway. I have very few computer skills. The uploading of this picture (apart from taking up a lot of valuable time) taxed those skills to the limit and took me weeks. I acted entirely in good faith and sought to obey the rules as I understood them, to the letter. I am seeking help from someone with such skills to replace the picture and avoid such pointless bureaucratic destructiveness in future. I have NO IDEA what else I could have done to make the picture legit, and there can be no possible argument that it was used with the full permission of its owner. You changed the size of the Milky Way back from the now known 150-180ly without discussing in Talk section, which is a violation of Wikipedia rules.
