Javed Bashir Khan (Urdu: جاوید بشیر خان; born on August 8, 1973) is a classical singer in Pakistan. He was the lead vocalist of the Sufi classical band Mekaal Hasan Band among other collaborations and solo efforts. His songs have been featured in Bollywood films, notably "Piya Tu Kaahe Rootha Re" in Kahaani (2012).[1]

Music career

Javed Bashir Khan started his singing career at the age of 12 with his father.[2] In 2000, he joined the Sufi classical band Mekaal Hasan Band as a lead vocalist.[3] With them he released two albums, Sampooran and Saptak (Urdu: سپتک).

He worked with Sondre Bratland on the album Dialogue.[4] Javed started his solo career in 2010 with the release of his album Subrang.[5] His 2012 Bollywood song "Piya Tu Kaahe Rootha Re" was featured in the film Kahaani starring Vidya Balan. As The Express Tribune reported, "this soulful track will definitely open doors for Bashir and make his mark in the Indian music industry."[1]
