Fixed welcome message template
Greetings! I just wanted to notify you of one really small thing.
I see you created and used the {{Welcome user column}} template to welcome other users to Wikipedia (which I think is good to do, by the way), but there was a small technical mistake in the template. I've gone and fixed the template, and then fixed its instances on user pages that you've used it on (and notified such users).
For future reference, when you want to display the number of articles on Wikipedia, please use {{NUMBEROFARTICLES}}
(a magic word), rather than {{Numberofarticles}}
(a template).
This is just something I wanted to notify you about, that's all. It's a rather small and seemingly pointless difference, I know, but one way is just recommended over the other. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page. Have a good day! JaykeBird (talk) 22:33, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
- Also, this same mistake (using
{{Numberofarticles}}
) seems to be present in your twinkleoptions.js file. I don't see where this mistake is, though. If you'd like to take the time to fix that, that would be wonderful. If that code isn't present in that file, maybe something in Wikipedia's systems is a bit mixed up, and hopefully it'll be sorted out soon. Thank you! JaykeBird (talk) 22:55, 24 August 2015 (UTC) - @JaykeBird: Thank you very much! I'll have a look at the twinkle code stuff tomorrow, but thanks for fixing that! - I see, but remain puzzled. That IP is an experienced, skilled and aggressive editor, Why can't he add his own tags to a page?E.M.Gregory (talk) 22:41, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- Also, can you be more specific about the way in which the page fails to meet notability standards? I ask because I write a lot of pages on academic topics, and this appears to be a notable topic to me.E.M.Gregory (talk) 22:41, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Reference for List of isomers of tridecane
Responding to your note left for me regarding citation of sources for List of isomers of tridecane. After reading Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright and Wikipedia:Copyright_in_lists, I'm concerned that maybe the source is not usable, and the page might need to be removed. I copied the list of isomers from http://www.scribd.com/doc/56047899/Constitutional-Isomers-of-Alkanes#scribd, which states copyright is Attribution-Noncommericial (but it doesn't specifically state Creative Commons). I didn't realize BY-NC is not compatible with Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright. After reading up on the matter, I wonder if the page might need to be removed. For the immediate time being, I added a general reference source citation (WP:GENREF) to the list page.
- Pro - supporting keeping the list
-
- Per Wikipedia:Copyright in lists, the information in the list is not "value judgement" information. Rather, it is specifically formulaic (or formulaically producible by IUPAC nomenclature of organic chemistry naming rules.
- Con - remove the list
-
- The "BY-NC" license of the source is not compatible with WP copyright.
- After digging around, it appears the source material might just be a republished version of http://www.chemicalland21.com/info/Constitutional%20Isomers%20Of%20Alkanes.htm (or the www.chemicalland21.com page is republished from my source material. The source material I used was published on Scribd in 2011; the other site claims copyright (of the site, not the "copy" page) in 2013). Per that site's policy (http://www.chemicalland21.com/Legal_Notice.htm), all their site's contents are copyrighted.
So, is a formulaic, known, canonical list of isomers copyrightable? I'm not a lawyer, and I don't intend on playing one. I guess prudence's sake requires removing the list?
Finally, I had also created List of isomers of tetradecane from the same source, so all of the above applies to it as well. I also added the same general reference source citation to it.
I haven't really interacted much with Wikipedians before, so I'm not sure the best protocol for ongoing conversation. Please let me know if I should be doing so in a different location or manner. Thanks for your engagement and help! sbb (talk) 05:20, 29 November 2015 (UTC)
- @Sbb: You're doing great at interacting, and my talk page is a great place to do it. In regards of the copyright problem, I'm not a lawyer either, so I don't really know how to handle this, but I thought maybe Template:Cv-unsure could be placed on the page(s)? The text of the template is:
Would this be alright? If you think it needs something else, put {{help me}} on your talk page and ask for help, (maybe link back here as well) and ask for help from someone who knows about copyright. I hope this helped. (Visit the help page for help). Thanks. Bonjour,
je suis extrêmement désolée pour les dérangements, je me suis trompée de Wikipédia, je voulais modifier le Wikipédia français et je n'ai pas fait attention.

Hello Hope you are fine, i create new article in the name Of Stefan Helmut Winter,please can you review and give me your feed back. many thanks --Mharfouche (talk) 10:22, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Mharfouche: I've just had a look at your article, Stefan Helmut Winter, and it seems fine. I've made a few small changes and added two cleanup templates: "Orphan" and "No footnotes". This is because at the moment, no other Wikipedia page links there and that there are no inline citations but there are some external links. I'll try and help you with the article. Thanks. (You seem to have made some improvements since I've started writing this, thanks!) Seagull123 Φ 17:16, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
Hi Thank you,I have made some modifications by adding links to some places and subjects. Best regards --Mharfouche (talk) 17:39, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
One last request can i make the name just "Stefan Winter" without a middle name because there is another person who has the same name on wikipedia
and couldn't create a duplicate article, Also the concerned person isn't known by his middle name.
Thanks again
--Mharfouche (talk) 17:40, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Mharfouche: Sorry, I can't make the title of the page Stefan Winter, as there is already an article there. I am able to make the title Stefan Winter (historian) if that's OK? I could change historian in the title to something else if you think that's better though. Seagull123 Φ 17:46, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
Ok it's a good idea to make the title Stefan Winter (historian) since the guy is a very well known historian and scholar with lots of books and studies that you can easily find them while googling his name. Thank you again for your cooperation and fruitful ideas.
Best Regards --Mharfouche (talk) 17:59, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello, as requested I looked over the page for Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen. You'll see the changes are mostly style and syntax and then some clean-up of translations (e.g. maîtresse) but there were a couple things that were not clear in the original that I tried to smooth using the information in the references. Let me know if you have any questions or if there's any other projects that you would like proofread. Cheers, Petropetro (talk) 05:18, 22 December 2015 (UTC)

Good afternoon, I wanted to know why my page is flagged for deletion? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Badia Hand to Shoulder Center (talk • contribs) 21:47, 29 December 2015 (UTC)
- Hi @Badia Hand to Shoulder Center: I originally flagged your article, Alejandro Badia, MD, FACS, for deletion because it was an unreferenced biography of a living person (BLP), Wikipedia requires that all BLPs have at least one reference to a reliable source. Another editor, Thebestofall007, then requested it be speedily deleted under the A7 and G11 criteria. If you would like to know why that user requested it be deleted, ask them at their talk page. The article now has two references, but they're primary sources, which on their own are not really good enough, I would encourage you to try and find more reliable sources to improve the article. I see that at the article's talk page, you requested that you are given a week or so to improve the article, I would suggest that you might like to try creating a draft version first, which you can then ask for feedback on if necessary, with less risk of deletion. Do make sure you also read help available to you, including Your First Article and the Tutorial. You might also like to try the Article Wizard, which has an option to create a draft version. I would definitely suggest reading the Your First Article page though. Anyway, if you need more help, ask a question on your talk page with a {{help me}} template or ask me another question here. I hope I helped, thanks. Seagull123 Φ 22:06, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

I would say they were. Do you have any idea why people consistently vandalize rugby leaguers' pages? Vandalism of ISIS I get, but is rugby really such a hot topic it "needs" vandalism? Joel.Miles925 (talk) 23:12, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

response on your input of the Article on EDEN - Official
yes I have know about that fact and thats why i have searched on the internet far and wide for all sources about him and all are from legitimate and sound proof sources from music news and websites and thank you so much on your input. I'm looking forward to your articles about archaeology and I'm willing to help you if you need it. Don't worry about not having enough time though. Seagull123 Φ 20:04, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Seagull123: so should i remove those templates after doing necessary changes, as i am adding the page to relevant categories and adding external reference also.
- @Sufyanxtreme: Yes ! Once those issues have been fixed, remove the tag! Seagull123 Φ 20:12, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Seagull123: Again thank you so much for your input and i have done the necessary changes on the page.

- @Bomabenjy2: Unfortunately, you can't delete the article yourself, an admin is generally required for this. See the deletion policy for more information. Once a consensus has been reached, an admin will decide whether it should be deleted or not based on the consensus of editors. Again, I would recommend you read the deletion policy and this page about Articles for Deletion for more information. Seagull123 Φ 18:58, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
