Lazzi (/ˈlɑːtsi/; from the Italian lazzo, a joke or witticism) a stock comedic routine or "bit" that can be performed within dozens of Commedia dell'arte plays. These interludes can be improvised or preplanned, and often include practiced physical sequences and dialogues by the troupe. Traditionally, performers would instigate lazzi to ensure laughter from the audience, especially if a scene was dragging.[1]
