Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (known as Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! NEO in Japan) is an upcoming fighting game to be released on PlayStation 2 and Wii. It is the sequel to Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi. There are to be at least 129 playable characters in this new fighter/roleplaying game. All characters ever featured in any Budokai game, excluding Tiencha, Gokule, and Super Buu's "What if" fusions, will be playable characters in the game. A recent Japanese website known as Club Dragon Ball states that battles will now involve up to four characters fighting simultaneously on the battle field. This is referring to Tag team options.[citation needed] The game has 16 arenas twice as large as those in the first game (11 of which are taken from previous Budokai games) and 9 game modes. In-game transformations have been confirmed, you must press R3 and Left/Up/Right to select the form you want. From a recent magazine scan, it has been confirmed that fusions can be performed in-battle as well, and it is performed the same way as transformations. A customizer has been made to change the characters but its method of operation has yet to be confirmed. It has been visually verified that the Dueling Mode will feature 'Battle Settings'. Judging from its menu, players will be able to adjust the dueling time, com level, life gauge, and set the 'In-Game Transformations' on or off during gameplay.

A recent article on 1Up.com indicates that the Wii version of the game will feature a unique control scheme using the system's remote controller. It has been confirmed in Nintendo Power that gamers, using the motion sensing controller, will be able to control their fighters by carrying a remote in each hand and mimicking moves from the series. A recent preview from IGN has confirmed that the Wii version will allow players to choose whether they play using the Wii Remote or a GameCube controller. [3]

Release date information

GameStop has confirmed that it will allow pre-release shipping available for the US on November 7, 2006. However, neoseeker sources state that BT2 will be released later on December 25, 2006, making a Christmas release. It is unsure whether neoseeker is a reliable source as they have the Wii version for Budokai Tenkaichi 2 scheduled for a Q4 2007 release. Also, Gamespot has stated the game is coming out November 7, 2006. In a recent V-Jump and Weekly Shonen Jump scans, it has listed the release date for October 5, 2006 for the PS2 Version of the game. They also have listed the January, 2007 release date for the Wii version of the game. Both of these release date are for the Japanese version of the game. The official site of this game is http://dbzs-neo.jp. The PAL version is set for release October 27, 2006. However, due to delivery difficulties, Atari won't be able to get the game throughout Europe until Nov. 3.

Fake characters

Like most DBZ Video Games, Tenkaichi 2 is drawing many rumors of fake characters, such as Toma[4]. There have also been many fake scans showing characters such as Androids 14 and 15, Piccolo Daimaō, Chi-Chi, and Yakon. There is no evidence that these characters are in the game, but 129 of the playable characters have already been shown.[5] Many fan forums etc. have fallen for the fakes, introducing them to the public as official. Thus, many fans are now convinced that the characters will be in the game. There is also a rumor of "secret" characters, although this rumor is also unsubstantiated.
