Hawaiian Public Radio, HPR for short, are a network of four non-commercial, listener-supported stations serving the state of Hawaii. The stations originate from the studios of The Hawaiian Public Radio Plaza, located near downtown Honolulu.

History/programming

KHPR, who signed on the air in Honolulu on November 13, 1981, serves as the flagship station, which consists of two seperate programming networks, with KHPR airing a diversified lineup of fine arts, classical music and cultural programming, while KIPO (whose sign-on was in 1989) offers a News/Talk/Information format. The two other stations in the lineup, KKUA in Wailuku and KANO in Hilo, serves as satellite repeaters for KHPR. All four stations are member stations of NPR.
