Ever Green, Ever Rain is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Michael McArthur. It was released on January 25, 2019.[1]

Background

What McArthur calls "the hardest 12 months of my life" gave the singer-songwriter his first full-length album, Ever Green, Ever Rain. He wrote more than 40 songs during that time and the dozen on the album focus on the thoughts he had and the lessons he learned. He drove from Florida to California in late June of 2018 and recorded it in Los Angeles, at United Recording Studios with producer Ryan Freeland -- who had McArthur cut the album in four days, working live on the floor with a hand-picked group of players. Ever Green, Ever Rain is the first release on McArthur's record label Dark River Records.

Reception

"Honest Music... A gentle rumination." - Billboard[2]

"A symphonically moving composition with healing harmonies and vivid 70s singer-songwriter nods.” - Glide Magazine[3]

“A full bodied work of folk majesty that pushes the chestnut genre’s musical boundaries in captivating new directions.” - popmatters[4]

“With his emotionally confessional ballads, cinematic sounds, and hushed intimacy, McArthur achieves and conveys a sort of state of grace.” - Cowboys & Indians[5]

“Ever Green, Ever Rain is brimming with analogies and personifications that prove McArthur’s profound introspection.” - Atwood Magazine[6]

“McArthur turns in a vulnerable, haunting collection of modern folk that brings to mind everyone from Bon Iver to Iron & Wine.” - Americana UK[7]
