Cypris

[1] Cypris is an online marketplace & search engine for patents. Founded in the May of 2019 by Steve Hafif & launched to the public in October of that same year. On Cypris patent owners can claim their granted patents & convert them into listings. A patent listing is an offering, usually for sale or license, made by the patent owner to the public. In the event of a transaction the rights to use the intellectual property is either permanently or temporarily transferred to the buyer or licensee.

Cypris is independently owned & does not take a listing fee or commission upon a successful transaction. University Tech Transfer offices have used Cypris in the past to consolidate & present their active offerings created & owned by the academic institution.

The Patent market has notoriously shown poor commercialization rates, leading to many patents to be sold to assertion entities (sometimes referred to as patent trolls), which can dilute the value of a patent & lead to use to in litigation rather than commercialization.
