Big Rock is small town approximately 50 miles due west of Chicago, Illinois. It is between the towns of Hinckley and Sugar Grove.

Big Rock is facing several controversies:

The Illinois Department of Transportation is planning on running a new highway, dubbed the "Prairie Parkway", directly through the center of town.

Sugar Grove, Illinois is attempting to forcefully annex portions of Big Rock Township, against the will of the people that live there.

The local school board for the Hinckley-Big Rock School District #429 has voted to take away Big Rock's elementary school, and force the children of Big Rock to travel all the way to Hinckley on a daily basis.

But Big Rock has quite a few scrappy residents, and they are putting up a fight to these attacks.

It's annexation committee is working directly with the people in Big Rock township to negotiate annexation agreements, which will hopefully stave off Sugar Grove's aggressiveness.

And, to fight the school board's decision to eliminate Big Rock's elementary school, a group of people in town have formed a coalition, called "The Concerned Citizens of Hinckley-Big Rock School District." Their primary purpose is to document and inform the public of the school district's activities. Their website is www.cchbr429.blogspot.com
