Stefanini (Stefanini Consultoria e Assessoria em Informática S/A[1]) is a private Brazilian multinational tehcnology company, based in Jaguariúna, São Paulo.

With more than 25,000 employees in 70 offices throughout 41 countries across the Americas, Europe, Australia, and Asia, Stefanini was founded in 1987 by current global CEO Marco Stefanini.[2] The global headquarters is located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with European headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and North American headquarters in the Detroit metro area.

History

The company's history is entwined with the entrepreneurial profile of its founder, who created the company in his living room. To this day, one of the company's innovation spaces is called Sala 87, in honor of Stefanini's year of creation.

Marco Stefanini had come from a family of entrepreneurs, as his parents founded, in the mid-1970s, during the period known as the ”Brazilian miracle”, a company that produced laundry wires. However neither his Geology diploma, nor his heritage were of much use. His parents let him find his own way.

Help came in the ‘80s, from his sister, who was already working in the data-processing area of the Federal Service for Data Processing (Sepro), Brazil's largest technology provider and who anticipated the impact computers could have. She advised Marco to follow a career in IT & financial services. Marco’s break came when Bradesco, the country's largest bank at the time, started looking for science graduates for an innovative field - data computing. Geology graduates were among the candidates they were considering.

Several years later, in 1987, in a stagnant economy and during a time of rising inflation, Marco Stefanini established the technology company that now bears his name. He was originally focused on the training area and then in technology services, becoming, gradually, the multinational we see today.

In 2020, for the fourth consecutive year, Stefanini was considered the fifth most internationalized Brazilian company by the Dom Cabral Foundation (FDC) Ranking. It’s also among the 100 largest technology companies in the world.

Philantropy

Founded in Brazil by Graça and Marco Stefanini, Stefanini Institute was created as an opportunity to give something back to the community in which they were raised. In the mid ‘90s, after the bankruptcy of the bank where the Stefaninis had all their savings, they decided to direct some of their future earnings to education. This is how they established Stefanini Institute, which now has six subsidiaries in Brazil. It is a place where young people from disadvantaged backgrounds can take basic classes to reshape their lives. The Institute has been a great success, helping 95,000 young people to build a career since its opening in 2001.

Stefanini Institute has been operating in several other countries where the company is present, true to its mission to offer educational opportunities for young, underprivileged members of communities, to equip them with the skills that they need to develop and move forward in life.
