Your opinion of AI on Wikipedia?
Hi @Pahunkat:
It looks like you’ve been editing on Wikipedia for a while. Welcome! I’m a researcher working on Wikipedia algorithms and artificial intelligences (AIs). Maybe it seems a little random to hear from someone like me…if you’ve only been here for a little while, why would we care about your opinion?
You may or may not be aware of them, but the algorithms that operate on Wikipedia affect new editors like you in very important ways. Even if you’ve only made a few edits, we really need to understand how you feel about your initial experiences -- good or bad -- so that we can make sure that the AIs we build in the future do what users like you want them to do.
Would you consider talking with me briefly about AI on Wikipedia? I will send you a $15 Amazon gift card to say thanks. Reply to this message here or send me an email at smit3694@umn.edu and I can share more info and plan a time to connect.

You may benefit from using RedWarn
Hello, Pahunkat! I'm Ed6767, a developer for RedWarn. I noticed you have been using Twinkle and was wondering if you'd like to try RedWarn, a new modern and user friendly tool specifically designed to improve your counter-vandalism experience.
RedWarn is currently in use by over two hundred other Wikipediansand feedback so far has been extremely positive. In fact, in a recent survey of RedWarn users, 90% of users said they would recommend RedWarn to another editor.
It's easy to get started with RedWarn. Unlike other anti-vandalism programs, it only takes a moment to get started. There's no setup or download. It runs on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, Linux and more, and can be installed and used by any autoconfirmed user.
Installing RedWarn is risk-free and only takes a minute, and you can uninstall it at any time. If you're interested, please see the RedWarn tool page for more information on RedWarn's features and instructions on how to install and use it. Otherwise, feel free to remove this message from your talk page. If you have any further questions, please ping me or leave a message on RedWarn's talk page at WT:RW. Your feedback is much appreciated! Ed talk! 13:40, 12 November 2020 (UTC)
- @Ed6767: Sorry for the late reply (over one month now!), I've tried to install RedWarn a few times but my computer can't access toolforge.com. However, it does work when I'm not at home. Is there a way to circumvent this or should I continue using twinkle? Thanks! Pahunkat (talk) 15:41, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

Rollback granted
Hi Pahunkat. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 02:16, 19 November 2020 (UTC)

For the recent pages you tagged under G1, only Draft:Why is silk produced ? is correct. Remember, G1 is only applicable if you can't understand anything being said. ToThAc (talk) 15:55, 2 December 2020 (UTC)

Regarding Zoomcar edit
Thanks Pahunkat for being a contributing member of Wikipedia and all. I just wanted my refund back from zoomcar, which interestingly I did a few hours of making the edit on wiki and posting it on Twitter, and sending the screenshots of my edits to zoomcar support via mail.
So even though the edit might help others who have been waiting for their refunds from zoomcar for a few months now, I got my money back so I am gonna take some rest. Vivianjeet (talk) 10:56, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Vivianjeet:, you really shouldn't be taking your grievances against a company to Wikipedia - the edits on Zoomcar constitute vandalism and were reverted by another user. Just don't do it again. However contribute to wikipedia constructively from now on and we can probably forget about this incident in the future. Thanks! Pahunkat (talk) 11:05, 3 December 2020 (UTC)
Is it vandalism if it is true? Vivianjeet (talk) 15:35, 6 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Vivianjeet: Even if it is 'true', please refrain from posting your personal experiences with the company - especially without a valid source. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 12:46, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

- @Pahunkat: Yes, was that alright, or should I try rewording some more?
- @RadixxTheNefarious: Of course that was fine! I was hoping to work on it before it was published but now that it's done we can work on it in article space. Is it ok if I request a move to SSA impersonation scam though, because that was the revised title that I think would represent it better? Pahunkat (talk) 17:41, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

how do you correct a name?
Poet Forugh Farrokhzad's name has been incorrectly spelled as Forough Farrokhzad. Most contemporary translators, essayist and film makers spell her name correctly as Forugh. We are trying to correct the error on Wiki. Therefore, we decided to create a page under the correct spelling. Yet you undid our work and redirected it back to the page with the incorrect spelling. Do you have another solution? Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Forugh Farrokhzad Team (talk • contribs) 13:35, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Forugh Farrokhzad Team: Thanks for letting me know, the best way to do so is to Request a move of the current page to the 'correct title'. You may need to back up a requested move with sources. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 13:38, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. it seems very complicated. Can you help? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Forugh Farrokhzad Team (talk • contribs) 14:33, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- @Forugh Farrokhzad Team: Place the following on the current article's talk page, replacing the parameters NewName with the proposed name.{{subst:requested move|NewName|reason=Place here your rationale for the proposed page name change, ideally referring to applicable naming convention policies and guidelines, and providing evidence in support where appropriate. If your reasoning includes search engine results, please prioritize searches limited to reliable sources (e.g. books, news, scholarly papers) over other web results. You don't need to add your signature at the end, as this template will do so automatically.}} You will need to back up your request with applicable naming conventions or evidence. Help me help you
Hi bud, I trust you're having a nice day and a blessed Christmas day. Just wanted to ask you if you can please help me keep the page I created for B Major (Musician).
I apologize for remove the deletion tag on the page it's only because I really don't want it to be remove.
I created the article and I am the person himself who I'm writing about. I'm Bjorn Martin and I go by my stage name B Major please help me edit and make a simple description of who I am if the citation isnt verifiable. Quinton Daniels (talk) 17:40, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Quinton Daniels, I'm afraid that we have pretty strict policies on notability for musicians, and even stricter ones with regards to referencing information on biographies of living people. For a subject to qualify for a wikipedia article you must demonstrate that it has significant coverage from multiple independent and reliable sources. You should also read our policy on conflict of interest editing. I would suggest that you let the page in article space be deleted since it's currently an example of A7 of the speedy deletion criteria, and instead try to work on your page in draftspace where you have a much longer time period to do so - but this is to be discouraged because of the conflict of interest, and even if you were to do so I strongly recommend you read the notability guidelines and think about whether you qualify for an article as of now. Please don't edit while logged out to try to remove speedy deletion templates or remove them yourself using your account, your IP address has been made public, and continuing to do so may result in an admin salting the page so nobody can create it for a long period of time or being blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you have any further questions, you can ask me here. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 17:50, 25 December 2020 (UTC)
Draftspace - Soviet animation films
Why was Draft:About the hippopotamus who was afraid of inoculations moved to draftspace when a similar article such as - The Little Mermaid (1968 film) and many others in similar Soyuzmultfilm category are accessible ? --YitzhakNat (talk) 17:09, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- @YitzhakNat: All pages are subject to review before they are allowed to be indexed by search engines. In this case, I moved the page to draft because it lacked sources (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). You can improve it in draftspace and submit it for review when ready. See the comments on your talk page. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 17:43, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
Red warn
Hi Pahunkat, I installed WP:RW today as an alternative to Twinkle which I normally use. However when I view the diff pages, its kind of messy since the rollback buttons for both the tools appear immediately above the edits. Is there a way to disable Red warn while using Twinkle? Ashleyyoursmile! 18:58, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Ashleyyoursmile, as far as I'm aware there's no way to disable or move the redwarn icons on a diff page. It would be easier to disable the twinkle rollback functions (if you go to twinkle preferences, there's the option). Maybe it's worth contacting Ed6767, who's the developer of RedWarn - he'll know more than me. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 19:11, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

DYK for SSA impersonation scam
On 31 December 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article SSA impersonation scam, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that in a three-month period in mid- to late 2020, nearly half of Americans were subject to an SSA impersonation scam robocall? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/SSA impersonation scam. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, SSA impersonation scam), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Declining of my article
I am unsure of why you think that I have no reliable sources. Most of the information came directly from the school's website, and it can't get more reliable than that. -- Ajax.amsterdam.fan (talk) 20:39, 31 December 2020 (UTC)
- Hello Ajax.amsterdam.fan, the school's website is not considered to be an established, relaible source. Furthermore, it appears to be a primary source, which means that I cannot use it to establish notability. I'm also concerned that the second source is also a primary source, given that it was "submitted by Brad Davis of Merrimack College". Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 20:42, 31 December 2020 (UTC)

MVS Page
Hi. The Maritime Volunteer Service page is way out of date and inaccurate. I spent some time this morning updating it and you came along and undid it all, Why? David Hughes, Chair Maritime Volunteer Service. David.Hughes.MVS.Chair (talk) 13:50, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- @David.Hughes.MVS.Chair: A few things:
- You've removed templates like {{use mdy dates}}. These need to be kept on the page, there's no reason to remove them. Also, there's no reason to remove the infobox.
- You have an apparent COI. Please read the guidelines on conflict of interest editing (see talk page) and propose changes on the talk page rather than editing it directly. You should declare this on your user page.
I hope that makes sense. Also, edits should be referenced with reliable sources. If you're being paid for your edits, you will also need to disclose that. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 13:55, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
No that makes no sense at all. The only people who would want to change that will be members of the charity, so there will be a conflict of interest. That page could have only been up in first place by a member of the charity. So that original info shouldn't be there? Of course I don't get paid. We are a charity comprised of volunteers. I have no interest in Wikipedia other than to see a more accurate report about us. I'd far prefer if it was just taken down. What you have done is replaced up to date info with inaccurate info, including a picture linking an identifiable person who is no longer a member to the charity. There is a link to our website which has up to date info. — Preceding unsigned comment added by David.Hughes.MVS.Chair (talk • contribs) 14:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- @David.Hughes.MVS.Chair: I'm just citing wikipedia policies and guidelines that are regularly given to contributors with a COI. The article could have been created by an uninvolved editor, but this doesn't matter - whoever it was created by doesn't affect the policies. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 14:44, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
It would not have been created by an uninvolved editor. So nobody from our organisation can correct it?16:01, 1 January 2021 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by David.Hughes.MVS.Chair (talk • contribs)
- It could have been created by an uninvolved editor, but who it was created by doesn't matter. You are welcome to suggest changes on the talk page of the article, and uninvolved editors will implement them. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 16:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- @David.Hughes.MVS.Chair: Forgot to ping. Pahunkat (talk) 16:21, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for that. My suggestion is that your editors either reinstate the changes I made (without upsetting your format which I apparently did) or they simply remove the whole post. As it is it must contravene Wikipedia standards in that it is riddled with inaccuracies and provides details of people who now have nothing to do with the charity. And I don't think it's referenced. Wikipedia is currently disseminating false information about our charity.David.Hughes.MVS.Chair (talk) 17:02, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- David.Hughes.MVS.Chair - Firstly, you cannot ask us to delete the article. You do not own the article - see WP:OWN. I'd be willing to reinstate changes if you can provide a reliable source that backs them up, use the edit requested function on the talk page of the article. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 17:11, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- See Template:Request edit. Pahunkat (talk) 17:12, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
I am very well aware that we do not 'own' the article (although I'm sure somebody in our organisation provided you with the copy - nobody else could have done so - and clearly you allowed a COI then). However I certainly can ask you remove false information. Now you seem to have come up with a Catch-22. The only other reliable sources of information regarding the factual changes I made are others within the organisation, who report to me. I would stress that I have only made 'technical changes' regarding how the charity is structured and have removed references to people no longer in the posts you say they are. So the bottom line is what you've got up now is riddled with statements that are untrue. Please reinstate my changes.David.Hughes.MVS.Chair (talk) 17:44, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- David.Hughes.MVS.Chair - on second thoughts, you're right - there's not a single reliable source there. Listing on AfD. Pahunkat (talk) 17:59, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks. That's great. How soon will it come down? David.Hughes.MVS.Chair (talk) 19:44, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
N.B this isn’t about a company requesting deletion, it’s just I think this fails notability guidelines so I’ve listed it for a discussion. It will be up to the community what happens now. Pahunkat (talk) 20:36, 1 January 2021 (UTC)

Hi, here are three more entries who you could add to the List of fugitives from justice who disappeared: 1. Hi! I've understood NOTHOWTO, and made changes. I've also added {cn}. I'll try again later.Gmac4247 (talk) 12:45, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Moylough changes undone instantly
Hello! I can see that you've undone the recent changes I've made to an article about Moylough! A place that likes to pretend it's a village of some sort in Ireland. Unfortunately, for it to count as a village or settlement, it would require people and not woodland animals to live in it in the first place, so my changes were very necessary! I would ask that you leave any further changes to the page alone as I am merely attempting to educate the droves of people that wish to learn about a settlement that hasn't had any actual real people living in it since the 17th century! Take care! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.79.59.253 (talk) 17:06, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Stop vandalizing Wikipedia, that's all I have to say. Those edits are definitely not going to help the article. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 17:08, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Well, that was interesting (See the history of the page) Pahunkat (talk) 17:48, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
Your note
You reverted one of my changes claiming the change was not constructive. Please explain it on the article talkpage i.e. tell us why the change is not constructive.--178.222.163.66 (talk) 21:06, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hello IP, your change constituted unexplained removal of content. You've removed a quote whilst saying something in the edit summary which doesn't explain why you've removed the quote. I don't get how "This cardinal actually ridiculed the victims!" is linked to the removal of a sourced quote, which didn't even claim anything and just stated a fact. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 21:11, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- The issue is that the quoted text is taken out of the context. You have to read both references before claiming un-constuctivity. One of the references even in its title says the cardinal ridiculed the victims!--178.222.163.66 (talk) 21:16, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- If the quoted text is taken out of context, feel free to fix it by putting it into context. But don't just remove the whole thing. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 21:57, 3 January 2021 (UTC)

Restoring vandalism
Please don’t restore vandalism like you did at Larray. Replacing the actual source name (YouTube) with "PornHub" is clear vandalism. Also, please don’t restore poorly sourced information on biographies of living persons like you did at Larray. Unreliable sources are not allowed on BLPs. Please also don’t remove protection templates that were automatically put there by a bot. I am assuming that the revert was a mistake, per WP:AGF. D🐶ggy54321 (let's chat!) 02:10, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

- Oliver Wilkinson, would it be alright with you to stay on this talk page? I won't be accepting money, thanks - I do work here purely on a volunteer basis :-). As for the article, you're welcome to insert something about this providing you can find a source and keep the prose in compliance with the neutral point of view guidelines. You can post any questions here as well. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 16:30, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- You still shouldn't be adding external links in the body of the article though, only prose should be there. Pahunkat (talk) 16:47, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
CVUA
Hi Pahunkat, I just noticed your name under the list of trainers on the CVUA page. Congratulations and good luck! I think you'd make a great trainer. :) --Ashleyyoursmile! 03:47, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

A message for you
Hi,
I have put a comment at the Girth's talk page which might be of some interest for you, but forgot to notify you there. So I make this notification here: please see User talk:Girth Summit#Impersonation.
CiaPan (talk) 15:20, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks CiaPan. I've seen people grabbing a few bits here and there off other users, but never an entire userpage. That's the first time a talk page stalker has ever replied to me :-) Pahunkat (talk) 17:15, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hah, if you're curious you may want to see my talks to Oshwah (User:Oshwah/TalkPageArchives/2019-03#User Alvinwebster) and GirthSummit (User talk:Girth Summit/Archive 1#User:Alvinwebster) related to the case, as well as the history of the user's page in question (before the necessary cleanup made by GS Special:Diff/886516970).
Keep safe! And happy editing! :) --CiaPan (talk) 17:44, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

User:Realjameshfan
They created an account today, with edits made exclusively to Talk:Realjamesh, and tried to close the AfD against the consensus of other users Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Realjamesh. Looks a real fan who joined Wikipedia to edit the page and hasn't shown any similar behavior so far though. Just a heads-up to keep an eye on them, I will as well. --Ashleyyoursmile! 07:39, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know Ashleyyoursmile, I'll keep an eye on that account and the AfD. Ponyo CU blocked one of the accounts yesterday, so I've asked them for the name of the master - hopefully that might help. If there's clear evidence of voter fraud (i.e. mass SPA accounts voting keep at roughly the same time), another SPI may need to be filed. I would give you the name of the other related account to watch out for, but I can't post it on here because the users probably won't know of its existence and you've got email disabled. However, there's been no activity on the talk page of that account (only my comments), so everything seems fine there. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 09:55, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- Pahunkat, that's okay you don't need to give me the name of the master, you're doing a great job keeping an eye on them. I never realised that this could get so complicated 😮! --Ashleyyoursmile! 10:11, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ashleyyoursmile, they've just spilled the beans at the actual SPI page - see their comments. It's welcome evidence of an off-wiki action but means their account talk page could soon be under attack by the same socks if they find the SPI. Pahunkat (talk) 16:06, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- I'm appalled. This is crazy, all sock and meatpuppetry for an off-wiki case. --Ashleyyoursmile! 17:17, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- Sadly, it happens. Ashleyyoursmile, were you involved in dealing with the caliphate disruption? Pahunkat (talk) 17:58, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
- No, my experience with SPI started very recently since I joined CVUA. Was the caliphate disruption one this much complicated? And update: User:Realjameshfan has been blocked indef by Drmies. Ashleyyoursmile! 04:25, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ashleyyoursmile, good luck in CVUA - I've only just noticed that you're still enrolled! The caliph disruption was pretty bad - if you want it in a nutshell, google's search engine indexed one of our articles wrongly so a search for terms like "the current caliph of islam" returned the caliph of the Ahmadiyya Caliphate, a videomaker made a video on how to report the error (to wikipedia), and we were flooded with requests at the help desk, talk pages of articles and the teahouse. I think someone along the line said it became the 3rd trending video in one country at one point. See WP:CALIPH. Pahunkat (talk) 10:22, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Seems pretty baffling. Thanks for wishing me luck, I'm still left to take the final exam. :) Ashleyyoursmile! 10:30, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

Question
I wanted to ask, is it possible to nominate someone else for new page reviewer rights? Asking for... a friend. JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 20:27, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- JJPMaster, probably - I've seen admins granting other users rights when they haven't requested it, including NPP, so I don't see much difference in non-admins requesting it for someone else. Pahunkat (talk) 22:08, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
Your comment at the SPI
Pahunkat, I'm pretty confused about how the soft-block works so I'm going to ask you. Does that mean that its alright for the blocked user to create a sock account and it will not be considered as such? --Ashleyyoursmile! 15:02, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Ashleyyoursmile, a softblock is one which prevents the account from editing but encourages the creation of a new account (i.e. autoblock is disabled and account creation allowed). This is made clear at WP:SOFTBLOCK and the block notice on the original account. As a result, it's within guidelines for the original blocked user to create another account to edit with, and wouldn't considered sockpuppetry. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 15:25, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- I see. Thanks for the explanation. So technically the SPI would become void? --Ashleyyoursmile! 15:27, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ashleyyoursmile, I'd probably think the SPI's going to close without action since they've been acting within guidelines (because it's a softblock as opposed to a hardblock). To be honest though, there should be a clearer blocking policy on promotional names since some admins block promotional usernames even with no edits, some require at promotional edits to require a block, some use softblocks and others hardblocks - it can be quite confusing at times. I only report to UAA/AIV if they've got at least one edit or filter log entry, since these tend to be more actionable. The type of block will be at the administrator's discretion. Pahunkat (talk) 15:34, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
- I saw that it has been closed. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it very much. :) --Ashleyyoursmile! 15:59, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

About CVUA
Hi. I would like to be a student (since months), and since you're a trainor in GMT timezone (which is the most closest timezone to me), and there's an open slot; I'm applying for being a student.Ahmetlii (talk) 10:58, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Ahmetlii, done! Please see the CVUA page I just created for you. Pahunkat (talk) 13:32, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
Thanks for the assist
Thanks for assisting me on my draft at Draft:XSET. Also, I'd appreciate any tips you can give concerning improving it to pass the coming review process. Mondayudowong (talk) 14:50, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
- Mondayudowong, please be patient - there's a large queue for AfC reviewers to handle and eventually you'll get to the front of it (3,874 pending submissions the last time I checked). In the meantime, feel free to continue improving it. Pahunkat (talk) 14:55, 11 January 2021 (UTC)
