Galaxy Group of Companies
Galaxy Group of Companies is an Armenian holding company operating in Armenia, Georgia and Belarus.[1]Founded in 1999[2], the company has created and currently manages 15 brands and businesses, including Ucom Telecommunication company, Yerevan Mall shopping and entertainment center among others[3]. The company has a lot of impact on the economy of Armenia as a top employer and taxpayer[4].
History
Galaxy Group of Companies was founded by Gurgen Khachatryan[5], Artyom Khachatryan[6] and Aram Khachatryan[7] in the late 1990s. Within the first 15 years the company grew from 30 employees to 3000, becoming one of the biggest holding companies in Eastern Europe[8]. From an idea to a project[9], from a project to a company[10] – Galaxy has created its companies from the ground up, each time setting a new benchmark[11], delivering a new product or a service[12].
The early companies in Galaxy Group included Megafood LLC[13] - food products importation company, Santafe open air restaurant, Chronograph[14] - luxury watches and jewelry stores. On later stages, the group expanded to the region with more than 29 stores in 3 countries[15].
