Kaysone Phomvihane Thought is a political philosophy that builds upon Marxism–Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought. It was first formalised by the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) at its 9th National Congress, held in 2016.[1] Kaysone Phomvihane Thought is a broad term for political theories and policies that are seen by their proponents as representing Marxism–Leninism adapted to Laotian circumstances and specific time periods.[1] The ideology includes views on the basic issues of the Laotian Revolution, specifically the application and development of Marxism-Leninism to the material conditions of Laos. The contents of Kaysone Phomvihane Thought was codified and developed by the Lao People's Revolutionary Party with help from the Communist Party of Vietnam.[1]
