Accuracy
Are we sure that the L60V designation applied to all Carry vans? In Australia I thought it specifically referred to the 450cc version. Andrewa 07:04, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

Why to merge the informations for the Daewoo Damas to a Suzuki article? It's not a Suzuki. e.g. it gets still produced in Uzbekistan as Daewoo Damas. Further it's not correct that there are just LPG powered vehicles offered. The Rascal is not a Suzuki Carry it is a Suzuki Super Carry. The Not So Super Carry that replaces it is an unrelated vehicle. I would admit that it is about the same size but it is a complete redesign. Also it is bigger on the outside and smaller on the inside.
So we need two entries:
- Rascal + Super Carry
- Carry

Transmission is 5 speed on all Rascals that I have seen. There might be some 4 speed variants.

Sir, I am at Namakkal 637001, South India I bought one Maruti Versa vide M/s Ambal Auto, Namakkal Bill No.vsl07000345 dt 30/11/2007 for Rs.359486/- and another bill no 2456 dt 05/12/2007 for Rs.21960/- and got delivered the ill fated van. I bought the non A/C model and did the additional works like foot rest, luggage carrier, LCD TV, 75 lit gas kit, mat, extra seat the total costing more than Rs.470000/-.My name is R Sekar and working as bank staff. I render justice to every Rupee earned. But to my shock, when I entered the external market and the company's authorised dealers, they are telling a a very lower rate of less than Rs.2 lacs. Even you have designed your website as marutiversa.com. But you have abandoned one of child as very poor performing. OK. Let you replace it by another model as you want but what about my rupee spent on that car. Hence render justice and take the vehicle by a reasonable value. "Half Loaf Taxis"?
"Interestingly, early Suzuki Carrys are popularly called "Half Loafs" in South Africa, referring to "half a loaf of bread" (still a staple of many South Africans). In Cape Town and Durban, many of these little vans are seen painted in bright yellow with green artwork and a chopped-off open rear end. These are part of large fleets of privately owned public transport vehicles which fit between normal taxis and city buses. You'd literally hop in at the back, pass the driver (always within arm's length!) a Rand or two, and simply jump off at your destination. Split Maruti Omni?
Seeing as how the Maruti Omni is different mechanically and cosmetically, and has followed an entirely different course of development for much of its existence, I would like to see it on its own page. Additionally, that way Mr. R Sekar (see above) wouldn't have to post irrelevant messages here on the Carry talkpage.
As the Carry article is currently almost entirely about brands other than Suzuki, I could even see splitting off the Daewoo Damas page at some point, but would argue that the Omni should be first to leave the nest. I am working on returning the focus to Suzukis, but all of the Daewoo/Maruti/Bedford bits are clogging things up a bit.
Additionally, I am thinking about putting all of the Carry's countless aliases in a table, removing them entirely from the infoboxes (where they take a LOT of space, hindering legibility). Any one opposed?

- I'd much rather see this article split up into multiple generations rather than make/model. Separate pages for badge engineered products usually results in duplication; it is more efficient to keep them under the same page and split up by generation.
- The Maruti Omni appears to be no more than a badge engineered product, with slightly revised frontal styling—not enough to warrant separation in my opinion. The different engines again should have their own articles. OSX (talk • contributions) 07:03, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
- So then the Omni would be on a page together with the ST30/40 Every? Problems with this are as follows:
- The Omni is an Every, not a Carry - in JDM terminology. Do we split Carry and Every?
- The Omni and Every have an absolute minimum of commonality - the engine was the same as used in some export-market Carrys (SB308), but the Omni only entered production in 1984, while the Every ST40 was replaced in 1985. All subsequent Omni development is entirely separate from what has occurred to JDM Everys, remaining in production still. Also, there would be a never-ending battle over production dates in the infobox...
- The ST40 and DA71 Everys have more in common than the Omni and Every. I am aware that export Carrys have followed a largely separate train of development from JDM, and I don't want to see their history contorted to fit a JDM outline.
- Perhaps the answer is a division along these lines: Suzuki Carry/Every (JDM) and Suzuki Carry/Super Carry (export)? I don't see the need to give the Carry Van/Every a separate page, as it's history neatly parallels that of the Carry (with the occasional difference in timing). Comments?

- It is my understanding that Every is the van and Carry is the pickup. So the main differentiation is body style (like our Mirage/Lancer discussion), and Every vans have been badged Carry in export markets; it's easier to keep them together.
- Production dates in the infobox can be listed separately, see Toyota Camry#V20 for an example that has been working flawlessly for quite some time now.
- I also disagree with separate pages for Japan and international. If the information is notable enough can't these differences be explained in the text? It is frustrating flicking between two or three articles trying to work out the differences of basically identical cars. It is not easy correlating generations when you aren't familiar with the car either.
- Lastly, we don't have to separate every generation, just the ninth generation Carry/Every information (aka Bedford Rascal). If in due course another generation becomes too long, then that can be separated off as well. OSX (talk • contributions) 06:26, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'll start off as you say, and we'll see how you feel about the article. As for the differences between JDM and exports, they're usually much more notable than the differences between generations themselves. Different lengths, widths, engines, names and always different years. As for correlating the generations, it would be up to us editors to make this clear to the reader. Btw, did you know that the L60 Carry seems to have been an entirely unique model, developed only for the Aus/NZ market? Even it's engine (446cc two-cyl) seems to have never been used in any other car in any other market. You Aussies should be chuffed. I just spent sixty AU$ and NZ$ on old brochures on the L60/V, a car which for a while I didn't even believe had existed at all as it has never been mentioned in any Japanese source.
- Another possibility (and I'm liking this) is to split all the Carrys which fit into the Kei category from those larger engined export versions - the contents of the articles would be similar as in the case of a JDM/export division, except that the Every Plus/Landy would be on the large engine page. It seems to me that those who are interested in the Rascal and Super Carry and whatnot don't really care too much what happened to the 550cc versions only sold in Japan? But as I said, I will go ahead and edit it all onto one page for now.

1993-1999 Super Carry
The 1993-1999 Super Carry was made in Japan (to the best of my knowledge) Mine has the F10A 970cc 45ps (33kw) 4-stroke/ 4 cyl OHC engine, 5 speed stick shift, 4 passenger window van, 180,000+Km, 5 to7 liter per 100 Km with 102 octane gasoline. Now it easily cruises at 145 Kmh on the autobahns here - and with a tailwind the speedometer goes off the scale. How can that be?? -- Well - from the Factory they come with adjustments that restrict the top speed to 115 Kmh.
Here is what i have found and the other options for helping "Suzi" Get there faster and safer, with less gas consumption, and how to improve the weak points.
1 - The Throttle cable at the carburetor is set by the Factory so the "butterflys" on the bottom of the carb do NOT open ALL the way. When adjusted to open all the way the top speed changes from 115 to 145+Kmh.
2 - The Factory Ignition Timing is set for 115 Kmh top speed and for low octane gasoline, Therefore after adjusting the gas linkage at the carb - it is possible to get better performance and less gas consumption by setting the Ignition Timing BTC (Before-Topdead-Center) according to the octane of the gas available. For 88 to 92 octane there is no need to adjust the timing. For 93 to 97 octane advance the timing 2 to 4 deg. For 98 to 100+ octane advance the timing 5 to 9 deg. If the engine "Pings" under load - the timing is too far advanced for the gas, reduce the timing as soon as possible! and until then back off your foot on the gas pedal!
3 - The "Syncros" in the Transmissiom, the "Complete Rear Axle assembly, and the "Throw-Out bearing on the Clutch are the weakest mechanical parts - Regarding the Transmission and Rear Axle - the damage is done when the lubricating oil is overheated and not replaced - (this is a common problem) because there is no way to determine if the oil has overheated. But there is a Great Solution! Its called "Full Synthetic Transmission Oil" -- and -- "Full Synthetic Rear Axle Oil" -- NOTE That they are TWO DIFFERENT OILS! and never put the oil in the wrong place !! The price off Synthetic could shock "Budda" - but worth EVERY penny! -- and GREATLY reduces the possibility of damage due to overheated oil, and the need to change it often, and the expense of replacing parts. Re; Engine Oil --- A Full Synthetic 10-40W Engine Oil works fine for Normal 4 seasons use, If way below freezing for Long COLD winters use 5-30W. Re, Throw-Out Bearing on the Clutch - ALWAYS KEEP your FOOT OFF the clutch pedal ! (except when shifting to another Gear) -- and at stops do not push down on the clutch pedal while waiting --- shift the Transmission to Neutral.
4 - Always keep the "Summer/Winter air intake adjustment set on "Summer" -- Except if its driven in Extremely Long Cold Winters. Also the Air Filter gets plugged up much faster than normal (due to the air-intake being so close to the right-front tire) -- Solution, Get 2 "water-washable air filters - when dry put one in a sealed plastic bag and keep it in the van to replace quickly when "Out-In-No-Mans-Land".
5 - The Single Action Shock'absorbers from the factory have a short life -- and then add to the tendency to sway excessively in curves and turns, Replace with "Heavy Duty Double-Action Shocks" from an after market Mfg.
6 - Always use "6 Ply tires made for Heavy Duty use" -- NEVER - Normal 12" 4 Ply car tires! I use 13" 6 ply Heavy Duty Truck Tires on 13" Steel Rims. Keep the tire pressure at the Maximum Recommended Pressure thats stated on the tires - ALWAYS use tires that are the EXACT Type and SIZE - from the SAME Company.
7 - The Cat-Converter plugs up real fast with lower octane gas and factory settings - this is a common unnoticed problem!
and after having to pay for a new factory exhaust system (another MAJOR problem!) - the benefits of using 100+ octane
gas and advancing the timing are very apparent! In "Non-Cat- Converter usage --replace the exhaust pipe starting at the end of the "Exhaust-Header" connection -- with a 2" exhaust pipe - hooked to a "as long as Possible" - Stainless-Steel-Packed Flow Through Muffler - that has 2" inlet and outlet connections, -- then loop over the Rear Axle and just past the rear bumper. To hold it all up - Use Factory Exhaust mounts - but at the bottom where they hook to 2" pipe - put a Exhaust Clamp around the pipe and weld the "Hangers" to the clamps.
The problem with traction on ice or snow etc. is too much of the weight is over the front wheels. Solution - if not loaded up with "half-loafs" - put extra weight in the inside over the rear axle. I use Marble Sheets - Be SURE they are tied down real good! and with the lack of tie-down connections in the inside - put at least 4 aftermarket connectors inside and DO NOT just screw them in with Sheet-Metal Screws! - Drill holes and use Nuts and Bolts with extra wide washers inside and underneath! - a little Silicone Guu under all washers keeps the water and dust out. Oh Yes - to prevent it from turning into a "Rust-Bucket" -- "Undercoat" everything metal that is not painted the color of the van- (steam-clean and dry COMPLETELY first).
My "Suzi" is 17 years old -Dark Blue and people think its almost new - to say nothing about how she sprints from a red light and stays up decent on the autobahn -and corners without tipping on 2 wheels and then OVER! There is hope - if the problems from the Factory are fixed. Then they are very reliable and fun to use and drive. 140+SSC (talk) 15:59, 4 July 2012 (UTC)
