The Beatles
Hi! I've seen you around on The Beatles' articles... Would you consider becoming a member of WikiProject The Beatles, a WikiProject which aims to expand and improve coverage of The Beatles on Wikipedia? Please feel free to join us. kingboyk 14:58, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi. I'm a little puzzled by your message on my talk page - have I been impolite?
Anyway... please just help as you see fit. Continue doing what you've been doing already. As you get more involved you might find new things you want to work on, but signing up to the WikiProject doesn't require any increased involvement or commitment.
With regards to Shea Stadium, I'm not familiar with the source you quote. Who was it written by? Can it be considered reliable? We can change the attendance and add a footnote if need be (The Beatles article is sorely in need of references anyway). --kingboyk 10:45, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- The Beatles Newsletter Issue 002* is at a very important stage... it only now needs some content. Please help!(*I cannot make a link work - if you are interested then I'm sure you will be able to find it!)
- ps. This what happens when you start making decent contributions to articles, although (as kingboyk says) there is no problem
isif you say "no"... also, are you on the project memberlist - in case you don't wish to contribute to the newsletter but would like to receive it?LessHeard vanU 20:48, 20 May 2006 (UTC) Links: Newsletter 2, Talk Page. --kingboyk 02:49, 21 May 2006 (UTC)- Thanks. If you would like to click the talk link, kindly provided by Kingboyk, above you will find "the editors" discussing the upcoming monthly newsletter. If you feel there is anything worth mentioning, then please do so. If you would care to proofread the Newsletter as it is being created that would be helpful, as would any other input.
- The Project is very much a collabarative effort, and we are trying to get the Newsletter to reflect that - so I am trying to get a few other editors involved. As a new member you may have some ideas; also, I am going to be including the outcome of the discussion about capitalising the The, in which you were involved - it would be great if you were to agree with the wording (I am going to invite Lukobe to give his approval too) so it can be fairly presented.
- If it is any comfort I found myself involved in the first newsletter after being a project member for only a few weeks. It seems as good a way of finding out about things as any!LessHeard vanU 20:03, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- After a weekend of brainstorming, the Newsletter is largely complete. It could likely do with a bit of spell-checking, and it is always a good idea to have some-one fresh come in to review it - as the editors are likely too close to it to see any obvious flaws. If you wish to do that, then please do.
- As for going round and asking people for help to do things - that just about sums up my editorial method, so I am in no position to refuse you.*grin*LessHeard vanU 20:38, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- The best place for testing out how things work is your own userpage - that way nobody complains if you get it wrong. If, however, you do get stuck contact me - or any of the familiar names on The Beatles, they are all friendly folk - and I will see if I can help.LessHeard vanU 12:32, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- If you want to test things out, you're also welcome to create your own "sandbox" (test) page. In your case, User:Vera, Chuck & Dave/Sandbox would be a suitable home for such antics. --kingboyk 22:05, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

The matter of the article History of the Beatles and the History section of the main article The Beatles continues to concern various editors, including DavidWBrooks and Vera, Chuck & Dave. Suggestions, comments, or help with the task would be much appreciated.
The Beatles have been in the real world news recently, but work on The Beatles Project continues as before. This newsletter keeps you up-to-date with what has been happening with the project and, perhaps more importantly, what needs to be done (see the "Issue of the Month" above and the "To Do List" below-left). If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy! Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 003 – July 2006). All and any contributions are welcome. Just let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or start editing!

Looks fine to me; direct quote from a referenced book. Keep it in your watchlist for a while to see if anyone disagrees (and can cite references). Good work.LessHeard vanU 00:08, 3 June 2006 (UTC)

Alright? I was wondering if you want to help improve the beatles song pages. The Beatles portal is stacked with helpful friendly folk who know their stuff [though truth be told yer a bit grumpy ;)]. Anyway, in spite of this, some of the song pages are a tad sloppy. I was hoping we could make a more complete page for each of the songs. The singles don't need much work, but the albums tracks are weak, including your name-sake. Some don't even have infoboxes. If you've got revolution in the head (coz you like yer books, don't you) that could be of great help. Lets be friends.--Crestville 14:28, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ha ha, sorry, I gave the wrong impression there - I ment grumpy in a loveable crumudgeon kind of way. I know there was no malice involved. Well I've exams for a week or so, so I'll sling my back into it after them. Gold look fire fighting.--Crestville 14:44, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
If it's any hassel, I'll just use my copy when I get home.--Crestville 14:35, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

So, are you hoping that by joining The Beatles project you can get your hands on the John, Paul and Ringo medals and thus own the full set? Nice plan! LessHeard vanU 21:29, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

Preparing articles for inclusion in Wikipedia 1.0.
It was a bit of a struggle to get this month's newsletter done, as we did it without a lead editor. Hopefully, next month you'll jump in and be our lead editor. Big news is that WP:1.0 is coming along nicely and our article classification system has changed to conform to it. If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Wikipedia:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy! Lastly, this is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue (Issue 004 – August 2006). Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned, or just start editing!

Beatles trivia on the chopping block
Dear Beatles editors, I have just seen a header that “The Beatles trivia“ is being considered for deletion. I would like you to take a look at it and vote to keep, or delete. The consensus will win the day, as they say…. I will not vote, as I have been personally involved in the construction of the page. andreasegde 01:42, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
George Toogood Smith up for deletion
Hello! Just to let you know, the article on George Smith, John Lennon's uncle, who raised him as a son, is up for deletion. While I in no way wish for non-notable people to be given articles purely on the basis that they are related to someone famous, Smith was like a father to Lennon and integral but oftern overlooked key in The Beatles mythology (if that's the right word). He features prominantly in any other work on or about Lennon. Vital information that cannot reasonably be included in the Lennon article. The main problem is the unfortunate article title, which highlights close connotations to the fact that he is mainly famous for his relationship to Lennon. Other than that it is a desirable article for anyone wishing to learn about John Lennon. I just thought I'd give anyone interested the oppertuninty to voice their opinions here: [[2]]. Unlike andresedge, I am not an honest person and lack morals so I have voted dispite having been personally involved, and, if things start to look grim, may vote again. (Only Joshing Cheif).Ta very much.--Crestville 14:42, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Cheers--Crestville 22:13, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think (based on what he has done, rather than any of the big words which went over my head too) he's saying the "the" is not capitalised because it is not connected to the word "Beatles" but to the word "repetoir". It's policy to capitalise the "T" where the definitive article in question is the band, but here it is the repetoir. It's one of those rare circumstances where we just use "Beatles" rather than "The Beatles" and that the word before is "the" is just a coinsidence. I'm not sure if he's right in what he's done but I've managed to confuse myself at any rate, so not a total waste. --Crestville 22:29, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
Any time. Seems the little Beatle clique are one of the few groups who actually get along and regularly work together. Quite nice.--Crestville 22:45, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, we do. it´s nice, and truly FAB. (Sound of thousands of girls screaming and soiling their underwear in the Shea stadium... laugh..) P.S. Thanks for your support (for "trivia") Vera. Say hello to Chuck and dave, by the way. andreasegde 14:57, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

As mentioned in the Project News section, The Beatles article has just been listed for a review of its Featured Article status. Working on this is quite important. Capitalizing "The" in the Beatles?
Why are you revising Beatles-related articles in order to capitalize the initial "T" in "the Beatles"? Proper literary style would have the group's name spelled as "the Beatles," not "The Beatles." All recognized authorities who have published books on the Beatles (including Mark Lewisohn, Bob Spitz, Nicholas Schaffner, Hunter Davies, Allan Kozinn, and Bruce Spizer) do not capitalize the "T" in "the" unless it is the first word in a sentence. If we want readers to take our articles on the Beatles seriously we need to follow the proper rules of style. Don't you agree? --MCB 8/17/2006 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.8.191.137 (talk • contribs)
- I'm capitalising The Beatles because it's official WikiProject The Beatles policy to do so. Best wishes, Vera, Chuck & Dave

Never walk alone
You´ll like this: Two semi-professional teams playing in a half-size little stadium by the Danube in Austria, last Sunday. Attendance: 150. One side scores, and some bloke turns on the pathetic sound system (just like in a train station). What song does he play to celebrate the goal? Answers on a postcard please, to... andreasegde 11:54, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
