In 2017, Sela submitted an audition clip online in the nationwide search for the members of AKB48's Filipino sister group MNL48 back in 2017.[7] In the video she sang AKB48's Love Trip and danced the Japanese version of BlackPink's As If It's Your Last as her audition piece. When asked what inspired her to join MNL48, she said "My inspiration in joining MNL48 is my dad, because we both love to be infront of the camera especially when he's still alive and of course my mom whom I consider the Wonder Woman of my life."

From a total of 4,134 active applicants, Sela was one of the applicants to be part of the 200 girls that passed the initial auditions which was announced on It's Showtime last January 2018.[8] On the 10th week of the live auditions, Sela got the weekly top spot which skyrocketted her through the MNL48's 1st Senbatsu Election.[9] The election results ranked Sela as the 3rd most popular trainee of MNL48 and became part of the 1st 48 official members of MNL48.[10][4]

On May 2, 2018, Sela was selected as one of the members of Team L with 15 other girls.

In 2019, She was chosen as one of the members to perform in AKB48 Group Asia Festival in Bangkok on January 27, 2019.

She ranked second in the MNL48 2nd Senbatsu Election last April 27, 2019 at ABS-CBN Vertis Tent, Quezon City, Metro Manila.[6]

On August 24, 2019, she was part of the members who performed during the AKB48 Group Asia Festival in Shanghai.[11]

On February 22, 2020 it was announced that she will play the role of Erika in MNL48 Presents: 2020 Vision. She got the role after topping the 1 week kumu challenge of MNL48.
