Uniforms

Purdue's colors are old gold and black. So too are their uniforms. Their home uniforms are black with white numerals and old gold outline. On the sleve is the Purdue logo and two outter old gold stripes and a black one inside . the pants are old gold with two black strpies along both sides. The away uniform is white with black numerals and old gold outline. The Purdue logo is on the sleve with two outter black stripes and an inner old gold one. The away pants are black with two old gold stripes. Both jerseys don't have names on the back and both have numbers at the shoulders as well. The helmet is old gold with the Purdue "P" in black on both sides. There are three stripes down the middle; two outter black ones, and one think inner white one. The facemask is black. Purdue's pride sticker (given out for good performances) is the purdue logo (locamotive). Purdue also has one alternate uniform. The jersey is old gold with black numerals and white outline. It has two outter black stripes and one inner white one on the sleve. The pants are just like the away ones. In the game against the Indiana State Sycamores, Purdue wore an old school jersey from 1966. It was white with two outter old gold stripes on the shoulder and one inner black stripe. The numerals were black with no outline. They wore black pants without stripes, and the helmets were old gold with black numbers and one black stripe down the middle, kind of like Alabama's helmet. In 2001, Purdue changed from its black home jersey to an old gold jersey. The old gold uniforms had white numerals and black outline for home games, and white uniforms white old gold numbers and back outline for away games. From a fan standpoint, it was too hard to see the numbers, so in 2004 they changed back to the black uniforms with the alternate old gold one. In 2004, before every home game, the team would come out to Back in Black by AC/DC. Since then, Purdue has stayed with the black uniforms. Head coach Joe Tiller changed the uniforms from black to old gold because he said, "the old gold jerseys give us a new look, and that's what we are, a new look team." One game against Penn State in 2006, the Boilermakers wore the black jersey with black pants. They haven't done that since the change from gold to black jerseys.
