List of episodes

The fifth season of the American television series The Masked Singer premiered on Fox on March 10, 2021.[1]

Panelists and hosts

Singer-songwriter Robin Thicke, television and radio personality Jenny McCarthy, actor and comedian Ken Jeong, and recording artist Nicole Scherzinger will return for their fifth season as panelists. Regular host Nick Cannon tested positive for COVID-19 a few days before production was set to begin in February 2021; consequently, Niecy Nash is scheduled to guest host an unannounced number of episodes.[2]

Contestants

The season began with two groups of five, Group A and Group B, then will introduce a twist in which "wild card" contestants will enter the competition throughout the run of the show for a chance to unseat another contestant. The contestants among the season have a combined "26 Grammy nominations, nine multi-platinum singles, four Oscar nominations, three Super Bowl appearances, six gold medals and two world records among them".[3] In addition, the opening scene for the season premiere revealed that cast has "a combined net worth over $600 million, 8 marriages, 25 gold and platinum records, 459 tattoos, over 55 million records sold, over 198 million followers, 3 Grammy wins, 3 Emmy nominations, 1 Oscar win, 9 divorces, and 146 toes."[4]

This season features a non-contestant mask called "Cluedle-Doo", who interrupts the show and gives out new clues.[5] Caitlyn Jenner became the first openly transgender contestant on the show (the "Phoenix"). Additionally, this was the first season to feature a famous non-human character as a contestant (Kermit the Frog as the "Snail").
