Deadline 2 (Week 3)/jinsin chen

Dear professor,

I'm chenchen (jinsin chen)

I have followed the video and posted the first blog on March 5th, which I forgot to inform you on the Wikipedia talk interface. I have selected the article Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education and I will translate the article into Chinese. If you confirmed it , I will add the article to my dashboard. I also want to work on this article individually instead of working with group mates.

I did not receive the email about the blog invitation. please help me. My email is: susanchen0212@gmail.com

Thank you Jinsin chen (talk) 11:03, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jinsin chen, Well done doing the assignment early. I'll resent you a blog invitation soon and don't worry about being late, I'll treat your blogs as being on time. Also, Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on education is a good choice, as the zh:2019冠状病毒病疫情对教育的影响 article is rather short and needs expansion. Feel free to add it to your dasbhoard. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:03, 11 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotrus As soon as I received your invitation email and successfully joined the blog room. Do two actions in the blog room.
First, I created and published the first article in Blogging through Wikipedia(2021):https://www.blogger.com/blog/posts/7664683351975062690
Second, I commented on Jina Kim’s article: https://socwiki2021.blogspot.com/2021/03/w1-why-are-you-taking-this-class-what_82.html

Good, good, but do remember to login to Wikipedia before posting, otherwise instead of your username you are recorded as an IP. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:31, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline2 (Week3) JeongYoon Oh

I want to choose two Wikipedia articles written in Korean as my assignment.

The first topic is "Vogue(magazine)". There is an article translated into Korean, but it is too short and has little content. So, I want to supplement it more based on the original article.

original article - > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vogue_(magazine)

Korean article -> https://ko.wikipedia.org/wiki/%EB%B3%B4%EA%B7%B8_(%EC%9E%A1%EC%A7%80)

The second topic is "Yong-gi-nae Campaign." The Yong-gi-nae Campaign is a campaign to pack groceries and food in a home bowl to reduce packaging containers along the zero-waste ideology. I want to write it because there is no article on Wikipedia yet, although it is becoming a craze in Korea in 2021.--JeongYoon Oh (talk) 08:32, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JeongYoon Oh, I think those are good ideas. Does the Yong-gi-nae Campaign have an article on Korean Wikipedia? If not, I recommend you start one as well, before writing the English one. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:36, 13 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

There are no "Yong-gi-nae Campaign" articles on Wikipedia in Korea. I'd like to write a total of 2 topics in Korean, "Yong-gi-nae Campaign" and "Vogue" articles, is that okay? I'm going to research and write the Yong-gi-nae Campaign from the beginning. And I am planning to write the Vogue article by referring to the original Wikipedia in the U.S. because it has detailed information. --JeongYoon Oh (talk) 15:31, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JeongYoon Oh, Yes, that's a good plan, but please also create an English article for the Yong-gi-nae Campaign, it sounds quite interesting and I'd like to learn more about it too! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:00, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If I do that, I will write a total of 3 articles with 2 Korean articles and 1 English article. Don't you think there's too much time to spare? In Korea, the meaning of 'Yong-gi-nae' is meaningful because two meanings, 'bowl' and 'courage', are used as homonyms. Therefore, I am worried that it would not be meaningful if I write it in English. Also, I think the same campaign is already being implemented under a different name in foreign countries.--JeongYoon Oh (talk) 13:32, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

JeongYoon Oh, The English article can be your extra credit project if you decide you'd like to do some extra credit work, for now the two Korean articles will be enough for the main project. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:05, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I finished Deadline 1!

Hello professor! I just finished the assignment Deadline 1 which is completing Wikipedia:Training/For students! And also I watched 위키백과:길라잡이 for easier understanding! I didn't understand syllabus properly, so I'm submitting it today, thinking that the assignment is due at midnight on March 14th. Next time, I will understand the schedule correctly and study. It's difficult to use Wikipedia, but I'll do my best. I look forward to study with you for this semester.--This is silverline (talk) 13:47, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is silverline, Well done, the assignment is on time, don't worry! The first few weeks can be confusing, I understand. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:48, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Submit week2 assignment

Hello, @Piotrus:. I'm Hyeonyoung Lee who is taking Collective Intelligence. I'm sending you a talk message after completing the assignment. I registered for our class's dashboard and took Wiki Education(training). I'm sending you links that can prove the registration of the dashboard and training.

Also, I kept thinking about the theme of the article. I'm very interested in the environmental field. But a number of environmental issues and Zero-Waste movement-related things already existed in the English Wikipedia. I would like to ask you if I can create a Wikipedia Article about Bottle Factory, a company that leads the Zero-Waste Movement in Korea and engages in various environmental activities.

I learned how to handle Wikipedia through education, but I'm not sure about the topic selection yet. Also, if you have any recommendations regarding the environment theme, could you tell me please? I apologize for sending you a message so late. I look forward to your reply. Have a comfortable night. --Hyeonyoung Lee 21 (talk) 14:49, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hyeonyoung Lee 21, Good job. Regarding the Bottle Factory, the new article would have to meet the guideline WP:Notability (organizations). We would need to find evidence that this company has been discussed in newspapers and preferably, academic publications. It can be challenging, so you choose a different topic instead while creating the article about Bottle Factory for extra credit. As for the environmental theme (for a Korea-related article in English), a very important topic that is still missing is the overview article on pollution in South Korea (main article missing from Category:Pollution in South Korea which has articles on some subtopics; see for example the overview at pollution in China and others in Category:Pollution by country). Perhaps you'd like to create such an overview for South Korea? Another similar but even larger theme is Environmental issues in South Korea (missing main article from the Category:Environmental issues in South Korea; compare Environmental issues in China, Category:Environmental issues by country). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:53, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2 (Week 3) - SuBin Choi

Hello professor : ) This is a talk message for Deadline 2 (Week 3). I would like to write an article about 'Population Dead-Cross'. However, when I looked up, there was no article on the 'Population Dead-Cross' among the articles in Wikipedia. Nevertheless, can I write an article on this topic? Or do I have to re-select a different topic?--Subin3754 (talk) 11:51, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Subin3754, Demography is an interesting topic, but I am afraid that the term population dead cross is Konglish. The more correct English term would be demographic tipping point, for example. Wikipedia already discusses this issue under population decline, for example. You can add a section on Korea to this article for extra credit, but also note that there's already an article on Aging of South Korea. So I think it would be best to chose a different topic that is not already covered on Wikipedia. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 12:07, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This topic (word) I mentioned is a word that means the first population decline in Korea has occurred as the number of deaths has surpassed the number of births. It seems that these words appear in Korea now using terms spoken in the stock market. In foreign language notation, '人口 dead-cross' seems to be more appropriate than the expression Population Dead-Cross. There is no article on this in Korea Wikipedia. Isn't it appropriate to write articles in Korean on Wikipedia in Korea?

+ Then there are other topics I've been thinking about. It is the theme of '6G Core Technology Development Project'. Briefly on this subject, it is a project announced by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Korea this year. I think this topic deserves attention socially. Is this subject right? If you write an article on this topic, will it be written on Korea Wikipedia in Korean? Sorry for a lot of questions, Professor.--Subin3754 (talk) 12:52, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Subin3754, I don't think dead-cross is a term that is well defined in English; there is a financial term "death cross" ([1]). Instead of creating such an article in English I'd suggest you start by translating Aging of South Korea to Korean, then you can mention the Konglish term there.
For your other project, whether the government project needs its own article or not depends on whether it meets WP:GNG. Has it been written about in newspapers/journals/books? If there coverage is limited, instead of a dedicated article, a short mention in 6G (network)/ko:6세대 이동 통신 for a bit of extra credit will be enough. It is important to realize that Wikipedia articles are not there to promote something (WP:SOAPBOX) but to describe things that are already important.
Questions are good, and you can always see some ideas for topics I have at User:Piotrus/Ideas for students. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:11, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your good answer, Professor. I'll think about the topic of the article again.--Subin3754 (talk) 05:03, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello professor, I'd like to say sorry first. I did Deadline 1 task too late. (W3.1) I finished editing weekly constructive wiki edits - Minkyo Jeong

Hello professor, I'm Minkyo Jeong participating in your class,'Collective Intelligence'. I finished editing weekly wiki edits. i edited English wikipedia and Korean wikipedia and totally made 23 edits! Actually, I'm not sure about the way I made weekly edit. I struggled because it was my first time. Please review the results I've done and let me know if there are any errors. Also, I finally changed the design of my signature!

Oh, and I have a question about our main project. Is it okay if two people form a team for the project? Kyokyoyaaaaa talk💬 14:07, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Kyokyoyaaaaa, Good job with your weekly edits! Please check the articles you edited by comments by me and other editors. And yes, it's ok for two people to work as a group, but then your workload will be doubled (article number/and or required content length). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 14:57, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Piotrus

This requires more reliable sourcing, I marked it here --> [2]. Thank you. - GizzyCatBella🍁 14:34, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Week3 assignment

Professor, I'am HyoseungChae. I'd like to choose the topic of this assignment about "media platform workers". It seems to be important in sociology as it is a new area of labor that has never existed before. Also, due to Corona19, this area such as delivery app is growing rapidly, so I think there will be a lot of things to talk about. There are not many regulations and policies in detail, so I'm going to write an article about the advantages and disadvantages of this area, and prospects at this point. Is it okay to proceed with this topic? ~~--Chaehyoseung (talk) 12:56, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chaehyoseung, While the topic is interesting and important, the term "media platform workers" is not used often in English. What sources would you be using? You have to remember that in this assignment, you are not writing an essay or an opinion piece, but summarizing existing research on the topic. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:46, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to choose my topic about "media platform workers". Examples of media platform workers are Baemin Ryder, who works for a food delivery agency application called Nation of Delivery(배달의 민족), and Internet instructors who work for Class 101 App, that provide onlie class like barista, painting classes, craft classes. I am going to write an article referring to the Korean documentary "건당 인생" and articles about the media platform worker. --Chaehyoseung (talk) 06:54, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chaehyoseung, It is a fascinating issue, but we have to make sure it is sufficiently research first since Wikipedia is not a place for original research (please see WP:NOR/ko:위키백과:독자 연구 금지]). First, if you want to write about this in Engish, we need to find out what is the corresponding English term. Second, a documentary is a good start but you'll need to find scholarly sources (books and journals) using it; a documentary is unfortunately not sufficient. So please let me know what journal papers or books you found that use this term in Korean, and or what is the correct English term for this concept. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:11, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It is called "미디어 플랫폼 노동자" in Korean. In the documentary I saw, I can check the materials brought from the sources of academic materials, so I think I can write an article by quoting or referring to such papers. Is it okay to proceed with this topic? --Chaehyoseung (talk) 07:16, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chaehyoseung, If you think you can find academic sources then I approve of your topic. Please note that for the English article we will need to find at least some English sources, to know what is the correct, established English term. But Korean sources will be good enough to start a Korean-language article. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 02:56, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ok! I find this article what I want to say. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_labor. :) Thank You. ~--Chaehyoseung (talk) 07:43, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2 (Week 3) - Sangmin Choe

Dear professor,

I want to translate articles about Gross Hacking and MVP into Korean. I have an interest in marketing, so I think it could be a good opportunity to study marketing and collective intelligence at the same time. Thanks!

SangminChoe (talk) 13:17, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SangminChoe, Interesting choices, both accepted. Please add them to the dashboard as your choices. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:01, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2: Week 3/About theme selection - WANG XIAOLING

Hello, professor, I’m WANG XIAOLING from the collective intelligence. After watching the video, I did exercises with "Evaluate Wikipedia" and "Choose your article" in the exercise module. Here is the link 1)https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Talk:Xi%27an&action=history,

 2)https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Wei_Daxun&action=history.

Also made 20 edits on English Wikipedia. This is the link for three of them 1)https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Chongqing_Normal_University&action=history. 2)https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Guo_Tao_(actor)&action=history. 3)https://en.wikipedia.org/enwiki/w/index.php?title=Agricultural_University_of_Hebei&action=history.

I chose to translate the two English-themed articles about "Commodification" and "Digital media use and mental health" to Chinese Wikipedia, and I chose to complete it by myself. But I have questions. The professor said that every student should edit at least 1,500 words. Is the word count of my two topics 1,500 words or 3,000 words? In addition, Can the topic of the weekly editing of Wikipedia assignments have nothing to do with sociology?

The editing of Wikipedia is still not familiar enough, please check the homework, Did I edit it correctly? Looking forward to your reply~ thank you. Wish you a nice evening! WANG XIAOLING995 16:50, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

WANG XIAOLING995, Very good job with your 20 edits. You can review how I and others copyedited them when necessary. You can also do half of your weekly edits on the Chinese Wikipedia to learn how it works. And yes, the weekly edits don't have to be related to sociology, they can be about anything.
The topics you have chosen are good and both need expansion in Chinese, although I'll note that the article on Commodification is under developed in English. Regarding the word count, it is 1,500 for each article required. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:13, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2 (Week 3) - SuBin Choi

Hello professor. I thought about the topic of the article again. I would like to write an article on 'Clickbait Articles'. 'Clickbait Articles' means articles written on the portal site based on real-time search terms. Although this topic is not closely related to sociology, I think it is meaningful because it is often seen in our daily life. In Korea, this is called 'abusing article', but in English, 'Clickbait article' or 'search word article' seems to be appropriate. There is currently no Wikipedia article on this topic. can I write an article on this topic? --Subin3754 (talk) 19:12, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Subin3754, This is a good topic but it already is covered in English Wikipedia under Clickbait. However, I can't find to seem to find a corresponding article in Korean, so if you'd like to translate it to Korean that would be a good project idea. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:44, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

What I want to focus on is the Clickbait 'Article'. Currently, there are no details about this in the English Wikipedia article. if so

1. Add 'Clickbait article' content to current English Wikipedia article

2. Translated this English Wikipedia article into Korean

Can I proceed with the project like this?--Subin3754 (talk) 04:49, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Subin3754, I don't think there is any meaningful difference between Clickbait and Clickbait article, but if you can show me English-language sources that discuss the concept of the "clickbait article" as something separate from the concept of "Clickbait" (the advertising) than I can reconsider this. But a quick check in Google Scholar suggest that the term "clickbait article" is not very commonly used, just 60 or so mentions: "Clickbait article". All that said, the English article on clickbait can be improved, so you can also earn extra credit doing so (but please use reliable sources like books or scholarly articles). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:35, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Come to think of it, there seems to be no obvious difference between the two because Clickbait and Clickbait articles have a common meaning of 'Clickbait'. However, I would like to add to the 'Use' section of an English Wikipedia article about the clickbait phenomenon in Korea (there are reliable sources). Next, I would like to translate this English Wikipedia article into Korean. If so, can you finally accept this topic?--Subin3754 (talk) 05:12, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Subin3754, Yes, that seems like a workable plan. I am looking forward to seeing what you write! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:37, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, professor : )--Subin3754 (talk) 06:46, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

hello Professor, I selection wikipedia topic /Han seung gu

Hello, piotr. I selection the two topics. Nowadays, cultural diversity makes various conflicts. So I want to explore this part intensively. Here is the link that I choose. Please check. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnocentrism https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_diversity --Han seung gu (talk) 05:22, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Han seung gu, So you want to expand ko:민족중심주의 and ko:문화 다양성? If so, then I approve of your choices (good ideas). Please add those articles to the dashoard under your assigned articles. Good start! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:31, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

w3) Weekly edits

Dear professor,

This week I edited this article. Did I do 10 edits? I don't know what 10 edits means because Wikipedia's counting is confusing. If I write 10 sentences in one article at a time, did I edit 10? Or do I have to modify 10 articles? I'd appreciate it if you could check it out. Thanks :)

SangminChoe (talk) 06:43, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SangminChoe, Thank you for asking. I have added an explanation to the syllabus: "An edit is defined as saving the page, and making a non-trivial (and helpful) change. It can be as tiny as fixing a typo or updating a number. Edits that add a new section, paragraph, or image can be considered for extra credit; you can list any such edits on my talk page and ask if they qualify for extra credits. Please note that as our course goes on, my expectations of what qualifies for an extra credit will increase, and edits that were “good enough” for extra credits on Month 1, may no longer be good enough by Month 3 where I’ll be expecting more advanced types of edits."
Regarding your edits. You made only two 'saves' but your edit is quite long and well formatted, so it qualifies for 10 edits for this week, good job! Please let me know if you have more questions. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:28, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for A Companion to J. R. R. Tolkien

On 18 March 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article A Companion to J. R. R. Tolkien, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the publication of A Companion to J. R. R. Tolkien in 2014 by Wiley-Blackwell has been described as proof that Tolkien had finally attained acceptance by the literary establishment? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/A Companion to J. R. R. Tolkien. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, A Companion to J. R. R. Tolkien), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Deadline 2 (week3) / Younji Ha

Hello professor, I'm Younji Ha studying Sociology of Everyday Life and Social Structure. I want to translate "Free-rider problem". When I read the name of this article "Free-rider problem", I think ' "Free-rider problem" is one of the big problem in sociology, but is this really related to globalization?' After reading the first sentence of the article, I realized that it was different from what I thought. Also, I felt more interested and wanted to get more information. So I choose this article. Please check.

Younjihaa (talk) 17:36, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Younjihaa, Good choice, this is an important topic and the ko:무임승차 문제 is very tiny. Topic accepted, please add it to the dashboard. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:10, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bruenor Battlehammer

I'm wondering what your opinion is on this one? It was redirected at AFD due to sourcing issues, but since then I did find some info, and I also see that he is going to be one of the four playable characters in the upcoming video game Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance which is sure to generate some reception. Do you think it would be too soon to make a draft page out of this article? I think his article will be ready for a comeback this year, the only question is when. BOZ (talk) 18:05, 18 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

BOZ, Over the last few years I lost a lost of respect for the quality of content published by io9/gizmodo and like (which I read quite often). The article you link is not an in-depth treatment of this character, either. I'd really prefer to see at least a paragraph in one, and hopefully more, scholarly sources, or an in-depth overview of him in the form of a dedicated article in the lower quality platforms (and such an overview should be more than just plot summary/list of appearances). PS. Trivia: I own a plastic (and painted) mini of Bruenor... Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:08, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline2 (Week3) / Somin Park

Hello professor! I would like to interpret the subject 'Tragedy of the commons' and 'Minari' Please answer whether this topic is appropriate or not.--Somsorosomsom (talk) 05:40, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Somsorosomsom, Do you mean that you would like to translate them to Korean? ko:공유지의 비극 is a good choice, but I don't think there is sufficient social science-focused content in Minari (film) to merit its translation, so I'd suggest you chose a different second topic. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:39, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. Then I'd like to edit an article about 'LH speculation' instead of Minari, is it okay? It is a problem in Korea that is emerging recently. And I want to do these with Chan Young Park(2015048322). --Somsorosomsom (talk) 07:54, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Somsorosomsom, The LH speculation is an important issue, and if you can expand it, that would be good, although seeing how new it is I am not sure it will be easy to find reliable sources. You can also translate that article to English for extra credit. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:06, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dead line2 (WEEK 3)/ YOON CHAN MI

Hello, professor. I'M Chan Mi. The topic of my article is "Xenophobia and racism related to the COVID-19 pandemic." Can I choose the topic of this article? Also, can we proceed with the assignment for the article with 2 people as a team? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chanmi0618 (talkcontribs) 05:51, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chanmi0618, Xenophobia and racism related to the COVID-19 pandemic is an interesting article but I am afraid it is not currently well written, and as such I don't think it is a good investment of your time to translate it to Korean. It is too much 'listing of incidents', and too little 'academic analysis'. Unless you were thinking of improving the English article itself with scholarly sources? If so, please let me know what academic articles you intend to use.
Also, please let me know who are the members of your team. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:43, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Assignment Deadline 2 (Week 3): Jung Eunjin

Hello, professor! I'm Jung Eun-jin, a student in the "Sociology of Everyday Life" class.

I'm planning to translate the "Xenophobia and racism related to the COVID-19 pandemic."

The article's Korean theme is "코로나19 범유행에 관한 제노포비아와 인종 차별."

I think this topic is now a remarkable social issue and is closely related to globalization.

Also, I'd like to work on a group project with Yoon Chan-mi, who is taking the same class, is it okay?

(My student ID is 2020092188, and Yoon Chan-mi's student ID is 2020092933.)

Please give us your feedback. Thanks for reading. Have a nice day! :) --Eunjin Jung (talk) 05:59, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eunjin Jung, Please see my response to your colleague above. This is an important topic but currently that article is not well written so I do not recommend translating it.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 06:59, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline2 (Week3) : Giyeon Woo

Hello, professor! I want to work on the article, "Democratization". Currently, a lot of Myanmareses are suffering from the suppression of pro-democracy movement, and it is a serious issue globally. So, studying the article will help me think deeply about the democratization, as a citizen of a country achieved democracy earlier. I will be waiting for your permission on my choice. Have a nice day!--Woo-Giyeon (talk) 06:46, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Woo-Giyeon, Democratization is an important topic, but please clarify if you want to work on the English article or translate it to another language (Korean at ko:민주화?). Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:01, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I mean I want to translate the article, "Democratization", into Korean. Is it okay, Sir?--Woo-Giyeon (talk) 09:40, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

So I want to focus on the social identity of individuals part. Here's the link that I chose. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_identity_theory#Self-esteem_hypothesis Please check! --Heeyrin (talk) 06:53, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline2 (Week3) - Lee Hyun A

Hello professor, I am student Lee Hyun-a. I'd like to talk about the topic of 'sleep hygiene'. As the Korean word "sleep is a medicine," sleep is very important in our lives. So I want to translate 'sleep hygiene' into Korean. Please answer if I can choose this topic. I'm sending you a relevant link to the topic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_hygiene --Leehyunah (talk) 06:59, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Leehyunah, It is an important topic but it was chosen and translated by one of your colleagues last year who wrote ko:수면 위생. So I am afraid you will need to choose a different topic. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:07, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Then can I translate the theme of "Double Burden" into Korean? --Leehyunah (talk) 07:15, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline2__Week3 / Suyoung Han

Hello professor! I'm Suyoung Han. I would like to leave a message about selecting topics of articles! I formed a team with 'Jisoo Jung', and the topics we set are as follows;

English — Carrot Market (Application): While investigating the carrot market that has created a trend from a simple second-hand trade to a neighborhood business, we want to find out why people love it and why it becomes mainstream culture.

Korean — 피식대학Psick Univ (YouTube Creator): By researching Psick Univ leading the Korean trend in the first half of 2021, we would like to figure out why people are enthusiastic about them and what kind of psychology is behind them.

I wonder if it's okay to start writing Wikipedia on these topics! Thank you for reading my message! :) --Swamming (talk) 07:53, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Swamming, Those are interesting topics, but you need to keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a place for original research (please see WP:NOR/ko:위키백과:독자 연구 금지] as well as the WP:GNG/ko:위키백과:문서 등재 기준 guideline. Our assignment is much less about research than about summarizing the existing state of knowledge. Have you located academic articles that discuss the applications you would like to write about? Remember: you are not supposed to carry out new research here, but to summarize what scholars and journalists have written about a given topic. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:01, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello professor! After reading the professor's answer, I thought about the topic again. In the meantime, I realized that there was an issue related to the introduction of sugary drink tax in Korea recently, but there was no content in the Korean wiki, so I looked up the explanation of the sugary drink tax in the entire wiki. So, I would like to translate 'sugary drink tax' into Korean with the hope that everyone knows about sugary drink tax introduced this time! Would it be okay to do that? --Swamming (talk) 06:08, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2_ topics for Wikipedia articles

Hello professor.

I am Jisoo Jung. I contact you regarding the topics for Wikipedia articles. First of all, I want to work on the assignment by forming a team with Suyoung Han, who is taking classes together. So, we want to write about '당근마켓(carrot market - app)' on English Wikipedia and '피식대학(Psick Univ - Youtube channel) on Korean Wikipedia.

1. Reasons for choosing the '당근 마켓' As a used trading app, it is an app that allows you to trade between people using the local network. Recently, I was able to see more than just trading goods, such as meeting and eating together through the 당근마켓. I want to write about the development of this app.

2. Reasons for choosing the '피식대학' In the case of '피식대학', I expect to be able to find out how the current media is growing and changing. Also, I think it would be good to take some time to find out about the popularity secrets that have been successful among various YouTubers.

Since it is a brand and channel that I am interested in, I thought it would be fun to write it, so I thought about it with this topic :)

Please check about these topics. Thank you! --Newuser04 (talk) 07:53, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

When I think of the word family, I think I am the son of a family. I will continue to do so. But I might be the father of a family in the future. Before that, I thought that studying family sociology would be a great help in life. And now I'm so used to the word 'family.' So sometimes I forget their preciousness. Therefore, I want to reflect on the importance of family by studying family sociology, which I have never studied properly because I am familiar with it. Here's the link. And I think that might produce some social problems. When I read the article about the korean beauty Korean_beauty_standards, I want to know the reason why the standard of beauty is so high in Korea. Also, I want to know about some problems that caused by the plastic surgery. So I choose this topic and the article. Please check. Have a nice day :) --HyeJin Kim2 12:25, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

HyeJin Kim2, Dear HyeJin, you are right this is very interesting topic, but please clarify what is your goal. Are you going to expand the English article, or the Korean one? Both appear reasonably well developed; they could use expansion but it will not be easy. Note that the English article has been a subject work by several students in the past. You may want to chose an easier topic to work on, unless you feel confident you can do a better job than your previous colleagues did.
But perhaps you meant the topic Cosmetic surgery in South Korea? If so, this is approved. Please make sure to use good quality sources, preferably academic. I already finished Deadline2 【Yang Ruixin(SIA YANG)】

Hello Professor:
I'm your student,Yang Ruixin in the class Collective Intelligence In Practice.
First,
I already choose 2 articles I will be working on:
Team effectiveness https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_effectiveness
and Nonviolent Communication https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonviolent_Communication
I think such social topics have some connection with our lessons, which should help me understand and learn about communication and teamwork.
If you accept my choice, I will add these topics to the dashboard immediately.
Second,
This week I have been edited more than 13 times in this English article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China%E2%80%93South_Korea_Free_Trade_Agreement
and 10 times in this Chinese articl:
https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%B8%AD%E9%9F%A9%E8%87%AA%E7%94%B1%E8%B4%B8%E6%98%93%E5%8C%BA
I’m sure to I has been done more than 20 times in all.(Sorry about the exact number of times I don't remember)
Please check them. Thank you for your time.SIA YANG (talk) 14:33, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

SIA YANG, Regarding the articles you chose to translate, they are both good choices, but please tell me which language you will be translating them to (Chinese?). Please add them to your assigned articles in the dashboard.
Regarding your weekly edits, well done! I will give you extra credit for such nice edits so early in the semester. Keep up the good job! You can also create some missing articles from this list: Template:Trade agreements of China for extra credit if you are interested in the Chinese international economic treaties! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:58, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Piotrus,Yes, professor! I intend to translate two English articles into Chinese, I have added them to the dashboard, I am especially happy to receive your compliments! I'll keep trying! Thank you for your advice! SIA YANG (talk) 07:47, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Week 3 Deadline 2 (Everyday Life and Social Structure)

Hello, professor! I am Jiseung Han, a student in the 'Everyday Life and Social Structure' class. I chose the topic for a wiki project ; Censorship_in_China Recently, I heard the news about the Hong Kong National Security Act, and I became interested in how Chinese government handles its people. China is psychologically close from me but also far to me. Through this project, I hope to develop an understanding of Chinese society and freedom. Please let me know if there is anything wrong with my plan. Thank you.Hanjiseung (talk) 14:36, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hanjiseung, This is a very interesting topic, approved! Please add it to your assigned articles in the dashboard. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:00, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2: Lee Dahyeon

Professor, I would like to write an article about the mental illness of modern people that can be seen through the drama! There are many people with mental illness in modern times. So the drama deals with this topic a lot. For example, 'Be Melodramatic', 'It's Okay to Not Be Okay'. Mental illness should not be recognized as a problem because it is natural. I would like to use the contents of the class called Mental Health and Modern Society that I learned last year. I've been interested in this topic for a long time, so I'd like you to review it positively:) --Sinabeuro (talk) 16:36, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sinabeuro, An ambitious choice. Mental disorders in film currently is just a redirect to a list, but the topic itself is notable and there are many academic studies: [3]. The topic is approved - good luck! Just remember that the content of the article needs to be sourced with academic journals and books, and not class notes. Please add the topic to your assigned articles in the dashboard and good luck again! Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:04, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Deadline 2-Hyeonmin Song

Hello, professor. I chose the article Remix culture. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remix_culture I encountered lots of Remix contents, but I have little information about it. So, I thought it would be good to know about Remix culture this time. Is there anything I should be careful about while doing activities? --Meanssong (talk) 19:47, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Meanssong, I am afraid the topic has already been chosen by your colleague Hyorim Kim (see above). You can ask them if they'd like to make a team with you, and then you could work together on this (and on another article); or alternatively you may need to chose a different topic. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:11, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I hadn't confirmed that this topic was already a chosen topic. I'll change it to another topic. I chose the article The Better Angels of Our Nature. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Better_Angels_of_Our_Nature
I think this topic hasn't chosen by my colleague. Actually I thought about which of the two topics to do. The topic seems to have chosen me. --Meanssong (talk) 12:42, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations

Your DYK hook about the board game, Glory to Rome, drew 6,319 page views (527 per hour) while on the Main Page. It is one of the most viewed hooks for the month of March as shown at Wikipedia:Did you know/Statistics#March 2021. Keep up the great work! Cbl62 (talk) 20:42, 19 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cbl62, Ha, I wasn't expecting this would be popular... Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 05:06, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It was a well-crafted hook. The idea of a single title leading to a publisher's bankruptcy is intriguing. Cbl62 (talk) 05:43, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Cbl62, I wish I could also add the fact that the copies of the game sold for like 10x the original price on the secondary market (and still do...). Interesting the hook was popular enough with that twist. Personally, the fact that a small company can fail after a single product launch is not surprising to me, small businesses fall all the time. Hello, professor! I'm Jung Eun-jin, a student in the "Sociology of Everyday Life" class.

I said I was planning to do a wiki project under the topic of "Xenophobia and racism related to the COVID-19 pandemic."

So, I'm going to change the project topic to "Stereotype threat."

I think this topic is also very interesting and related to globalization!

I will work hard on the project.

Also, I'd like to work on a group project with Yoon Chan-mi, who is taking the same class.

(My student ID is 2020092188, and Yoon Chan-mi's student ID is 2020092933.)

Please give us your feedback. Thanks for reading. Have a nice day! :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eunjin Jung (talkcontribs) 09:17, 20 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
