Charan Raj is an Indian film actor, director, film producer, and writer who primarily works in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Odia and Hindi movies.[2] Charan Raj became an instant hit for his performance as villain in the 1985 movie Pratighatana. He is also known for his performances in films like Indrudu Chandrudu, Kartavyam and Gentleman. He was also a part of Rajanikanth hits Phool Bane Angaray, Veera, Dharma Dorai and Baasha. He debuted in Kannada films as a hero. Siddalingaiah is considered to be his godfather.

Career

Charan Raj made his acting debut with Siddalingaiah's Kannada film Parajitha (1982) and made it big with Thaliya Bhagya (1984), produced by A. L. Abbaiah Naidu. He then went on to appear in several successful Kannada films. His performance as "Kali" in the movie Pratighatana brought him huge career boost and he continued to play the villain characters for almost the next six years in Telugu. Towards 1990's, Charan Raj started appearing in supporting roles. He made his directorial debut with Annan Thangachi playing the lead role, however the film was a failure and Charan Raj incurred losses as producer. He announced another project as director titled Pudhusa Irukku in 2005 however, the film was shelved.[3]

Controversy

In 2014, Charan Raj was accused of carrying a gun at Sri Varasiddhi Vinayak Temple, Andhra Pradesh.[4]
