Nadia Labrie is a Canadian flutist who is known as a member of the duo Similia[1] with her twin sister Annie.
Education
[edit]She studied at the Conservatoire de musique du Québec in Rimouski where she obtained the Grand Prix with distinction and did her Master's degree at the Université de Montréal.
At the Conservatoire de musique, she was Richard Lapointe's[2] student and at the Université de Montréal she was mentored by Lise Daoust.
Career
[edit]She began her career as a soloist with the Orchestre symphonique de l'Estuaire after winning the orchestra's first soloist competition[3]. In 1994, she founded the Syrinx Quartet[4] with four flutists, Annie Laflamme, Pascale Labrie and Geneviève Landry. She has taken several advanced courses with great masters such as Patrick Gallois, Geneviève Amar and Emmanuel Pahud. She also took a master class with Timothy Hutchins and Robert Langevin.[5] She then signed an agreement with the Analekta record label with her sister for the Similia duo.
Similia
[edit]In March 1998, Nadia Labrie and her sister Annie created the Similia duo for flute and guitar and recorded several albums. Together they have given over 500 concerts in 13 countries.[6]
