About Me

[edit]

My name is Neal Stimler. I am a GLAM advocate and seek to facilitate connections between archives, libraries, museums and Wikimedians. My contributions focus on collaboratively building projects, adding citations, data, and digital assets. Leave a message on my talk page or contact me on Twitter @nealstimler. I am now a consultant and Consulting Executive Advisor at Balboa_Park_(San_Diego) Online Collaborative.

I had an over ten-year career at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, where I collaborated with User:Pharos and Wikimedia New York City for Metropolitan Museum of Art's first Wikimedia in Residence. In Auckland, New Zealand, I served as the inaugural Head of Engagement at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki from 2017-2018. I worked with The Cleveland Museum of Art to further engagement with Wikimedia communities. This work has been done in collaboration with User:Madreiling, User:Fuzheado, User:Multichill, and User:Dominic. I am grateful for their support. You can now find images from the collection of The Cleveland Museum of Art[1] on Wikimedia Commons. I also guided The Smithsonian Institution on their open access program, including recommendations on Wikimedia strategies.
