Welcome!
Hello, Amshpatten, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Ahom script
Hello I reverted your edit because I would like to ask if you could include the citation on Ahom script, where it says that it descends directly from Old Mon script, and not from Pyu>Burmese (or Old Mon). I do not have access to the source you are using so I can't look it up myself. In the paper 'The Mon Paradigm and the Origins of the Burma Script' (https://www.jstor.org/stable/j.ctt1wn0qs1.10?seq=1#metadata_info_tab_contents), it is explained in numerous ways how Burmese script must have descended from Pyu and not Old Mon. Looking at the location of the Old Mon kingdom compared to the the Hukawng Valley, where the Ahom people migrated to from China and then to Assam, it seems quite unlikely that their script descends from Old Mon directly. Does your source explain this? Glennznl ([[User talk:Glennzn
Wikipedia and copyright
Hello Amshpatten, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Gaudi script have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 11:41, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

An article you recently created, Desia Odia, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Desia = Kotia?
Hi Amshpatten! I want to help you to expand Draft:Desia Odia so we can have it in main space. I am not very familiar with the languages of the area, and there is one thing which I don't quite understand yet fully: according to Glottolog, Kotia and Desia are same, while in Ethnologue, they are listed separately. Are these variants really distinct, or rather kept apart by SIL for socio-cultural reasons? If have followed Glottolog, and added a source that deals with "Kotia Odia". –Austronesier (talk) 20:19, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sure. Desia is the major regional dialect group of the 4 South-western Odisha districts(Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangapur, Rayagada). Its more like a collection of different non-tribal and tribal dialects(tribal-non tribal dialect continuum) of that region, hence the case of different names. Kotia is a tribal language within the Desia grp which is also known as Adivasi Odia, while the non tribal Desia variety is known as Koraputia.-Patten (talk) 05:03, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I have now found a similar comment in Glottolog[1]. I will move the page to main space, since I can't see why this shouldn't suffice for a stub. We have many articles about languages for which literally nothing is cited except for Ethnologue and Glottolog, so your page is clearly above the WP:GNG threshold. –Austronesier (talk) 08:52, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Takri
I would like to know that why did you added Takri to Garhwali page? There is no evidence for the usage of the script for Garhwali Language. Only Pahari languages of Himachal & Jammu & Kashmir, along with Kashtwari from Jammu & Kashmir & Jaunsari & Jaunpuri (at times considered as dialect of Garhwali for which separate wikipedia page exists) from Uttarahand were written using Takri script, that too of a very different variety (here is the proposal of unicode for that variety). Are you a speaker any Pahari language? If yes, the I would like you to contribute to the Swadesh list here. Nik9hil (talk) 14:39, 20 September 2020 (UTC)

Korean readings of Japanese names
Hello, I've noticed you started adding name reading templates to Japanese singers active in the K-pop industry, such as Sakura Miyawaki, Yukika Teramoto, Nako Yabuki, Hitomi Honda, and Juri Takahashi. I have removed Korean readings of their names from the lead of the articles; a Korean pronunciation for native Japanese names are not necessary especially if they are not Korean citizens. Feel free to discuss this on my talk page if they should be included. lullabying (talk) 04:41, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
- I had added them due to K-pop but I kind of agree with you here that it was somewhat unnecessary. So I guess its fine now since you have taken care of it. Amshpatten (talk) 14:02, 10 February 2021 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Category:Cambodian people of South Asian descent requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! The article Sujata Koirala (Nepali actress) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
None of the references pass WP:GNG.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. nirmal (talk) 07:06, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

I hereby apologise for my silly carelessness and pledge to make the effort to always be careful while editing. I don't wish to be blocked as I want to contribute all I can to Wikipedia. I hereby make the commitment never to make the copyright mistake again, providing which I understand I will be blocked again indefintely. If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here
with your rationale:
{{unblock reviewed |1=Regarding that particular article, I did modify sections from the source before putting it in the main article but I have erred very casually despite being aware of the Wikipedia copyright policy. I have gone through the [[Wikipedia:Copyrights]] and [[Wikipedia:Non-free content]] as notified to me. As per Wikipedia policy I understand the key policies and issues that governs it. I understand that ''Wikipedia content can be copied, modified and redistributed if and only if the copied version is made available on the same terms to others and acknowledgment of the authors of the Wikipedia article used is included. Copied Wikipedia content will therefore remain free under an appropriate license and can continue to be used by anyone subject to certain restrictions, most of which aim to ensure that freedom''. I understand ''Never to use materials that infringe the copyrights of others as this could create legal liabilities and seriously hurt Wikipedia. If in doubt, write the content yourself, thereby creating a new copyrighted work which can be included in Wikipedia without trouble.''- I hereby pledge to always keep this statement in mind henceforth whenever I think to editing here. I will always cite copyrighted works, keeping in mind the issues with copyright. - Most of the above unblock request is copied from Wikipedia:Copyrights. I'm not impressed by that.
- What changed in the 20 minutes between my block and your unblock request? Did you not take our warnings seriously? Why should we now trust you? — Diannaa (talk) 21:59, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
- I mentioned those specific parts in italics to highlight to issues I am having and to ensure that I have read it thoroughly.
- I understand I have failed miserably despite being warned about the violations I made. I have been terribly reckless with my editing at times, but I want to assure everyone I consider my blocking to be a very serious matter. As part of my violations, I accept the fact the If I repeat this very mistake next again then it will entirely be my responsibility which I am willing accept. Please kindly consider my case and give me a chance, as I do all of this for the cause of putting accurate information and improve the quality of Wikipedia as I do believe everyone should have access to quality and accurate information. This excessive zeal of accuracy proved to be my folly in the long run, but I have indeed learnt it the hard way. Apologies for all the trouble and I leave this matter to your judgement.
