Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 36.77.95.2 (talk) at 05:08, 19 April 2021 (Wikipedia: Cmt). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Indefinite extended protection: Content Dispute/Edit Warring. WP:GS/IRANPOL aeschyIus (talk) 16:50, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 6 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Logged GS action.El_C 17:10, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Requesting immediate archiving... Stop being confused, bot! Ah, ECP marked as semi, I see. El_C 17:40, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Extended confirmed protected for a period of 6 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. El_C 17:43, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – If you look at the history of the article you will see that every time he referees a football match he is subject to abuse from the losing sides. I am constantly reverting vandalism and having to warn users. I know this page is currently semi-protected but I am asking for indefinite extended auto confirmed protection because I have reverted vandalism countless times as have other users. Racingmanager (talk) 18:42, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Extended confirmed protected for the duration. El_C 19:15, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: High amounts of vandalism from an IP address Persistently adding unsourced information, and continuing to re-add it. Link20XX (talk) 19:35, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked. All of the disruptive editing is coming from a single IP, which has been blocked once already. I have blocked them again for a longer time. MelanieN (talk) 01:58, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Lomrjyo (talk) 22:06, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blockedMelanieN (talk) 02:16, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Long-term abuse involving the term "sneed". — Mikehawk10 (talk) 22:15, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. MelanieN (talk) 02:14, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruption by IPs adding unsourced claims, despite warnings on first IP's talk page. BilCat (talk) 23:16, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 10 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. MelanieN (talk) 02:23, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Frequent addtn of spam and unreferenced cruft by IPs. Better protect this for some time seeing the history of the page. Gotitbro (talk) 01:19, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. MelanieN (talk) 02:24, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Creation protection:

NSRADF, NotReallySoroka (talk) (formerly DePlume) 02:18, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Jalen Folf (talk) 02:23, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Vandals, mostly not logged in, removing sourced content and lying about it. This has been an issue off-and-on for some time, and I'm sick of it. - Sumanuil (talk) 02:32, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated vandalism by IP/LTA (see ANI). Gotitbro (talk) 03:10, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protection: Experiencing high levels of vandalism even at current level of protection. AllegedlyHuman (talk) 03:38, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@AllegedlyHuman: Experience level of vandalism from when? I see that the last edit has been occured on 15-16 April and was done by an extended confirmed user itself, which one ECP users has removed url-status and reverted by another ECP user, so having extended confirmed protection would virtually no effect and i don't see any effort by non-IP users to vandalize the page. 36.77.95.2 (talk) 05:08, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:ARBPIA. Jalen Folf (talk) 03:58, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

    Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Jonas kam (talk) 04:23, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Inserting factual errors from IPs without consensus and references. — Please ping to Meghmollar2017(UTC), unless you're responding in the User's TalkPage. — 04:23, 19 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Indefinite pending changes protection: Is not even a real thing it is just a fictious project as other pages such as celebrities WolfeReAds (talk) 04:32, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@WolfeReAds:I highly doubt this will be done as you have provided no legitimate reason to lower the protection. Dronebogus (talk) 04:44, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@WolfeReAds: Did you read the article? Even the preview popups I use make it clear the article is about works of fiction. This is like arguing a page about a celebrity should be unprotected because the article states the guy was only popular in Oak Grove, Kentucky. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 07:48, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Previously page did not meet musical notability criteria but after winning a grammy with Tennesse State Marching Band title meets said criteria 2600:1700:F991:9E50:F923:CBAA:724D:8AFE (talk) 05:03, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I believe Robert McClenon's response to you at Del Rev (11 Jan) was along the lines of "create a notable draft first, then we'll deal with unprotection". Zinnober9 (talk) 05:48, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes protection: Reduce the protection to pending changes, as all vandals that triggered the temporary semi-protection are all ip users. It would be greatly appreciated if the semi-protection is reduced to pending changes for the remainder of the duration. 🗽Freedoxm🗽(talkcontribs) 18:57, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
