Dates problem

Weller played for Leicester into 1979, so there's a problem with the career dates, which have him leaving the Foxes in 1978. Maybe there should be an overlap. In those days some players would go to USA in the British close season (the summer) on short contracts, returning to their English club in the autumn. So he may have played in America in 1978, but that would not, per se, be evidence that he had left Leicester that year. The moment Weller remains best-known for throughout England was the day he played in white tights (US: pantyhose) because of the cold – the first time any player was seen on British television doing so. And that was 6 January 1979. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5781192354904365597# Grubstreet (talk) 22:11, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
