Aileen Cannon

Aileen Mercedes Cannon (born 1981)[1] is a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Biography
Cannon received a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, and a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School. She began her legal career as a law clerk to Judge Steven Colloton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Cannon worked as an associate at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and currently serves as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida.[2] Cannon has been a member of the Federalist Society since 2005.[1]
Federal judicial service
On April 29, 2020, President Trump announced his intent to nominate Cannon to serve as a United States District Judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.[2] On May 21, 2020, her nomination was sent to the United States Senate. She has been nominated to the seat vacated by Judge Kenneth Marra, who assumed senior status on August 1, 2017.[3] A hearing on her nomination before the Senate Judiciary Committee was held on July 29, 2020.[4] On September 17, 2020, her nomination was reported out of committee by a 16–6 vote.[5] On November 12, 2020, the Senate confirmed her nomination by a 56–21 vote.[6] She received her judicial commission on November 13, 2020.
