Adipurush is an upcoming Indian mythological film[3] directed by Om Raut and produced by T-Series Films and Retrophiles.[4] It is shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi languages.[5] Based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, Adipurush stars Prabhas as Lord Rama, Kriti Sanon as Sita, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana.[6]
A 3D film, Adipurush is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.[5] Principal photography commenced on 2 February 2021.[7] The film is scheduled for theatrical release along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and other languages on 11 August 2022.[8]

Development
The film was announced on 18 August 2020 via a promotional poster, with official confirmation that Prabhas will portray Lord Rama and it will be directed by blockbuster film Tanhaji (2020) fame Om Raut.[9]
Casting
On 3 September, the makers revealed that with Prabhas enacting Lord Rama's portrayal, Saif Ali Khan who already worked as villain in Tanhaji has been signed for the role of Lankesh.[10] After rumours of Anushka Shetty, Anushka Sharma, Kiara Advani, and Keerthy Suresh being approached for the role of Devi Sita, it was reported in November 2020 that Kriti Sanon has been cast to essay the role; her inclusion into the film was confirmed by makers four months later on 12 March 2021.[11] Sunny Singh who joined the sets on 23 February 2021 is playing Lord Rama's younger brother Lakshman.[12]
Filming
Motion capture shoot for Adipurush begun on 19 January 2021.[13] Muhurat shot and formal launch was done on 2 February 2021 in Mumbai, India.[14] Principal photography of the movie began that day, as informed by the makers.[15] A massive fire accident took place at the filming location in Mumbai on the same day.[16] Duplicate sets were erected same wise due to the fire breakout.[17]
Release
Adipurush is scheduled for cinema release along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and other multiple languages on 11 August 2022, coinciding with a beneficial 5-day extended weekend that includes the holidays Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day.[18]
