Nau'Jour Grainger (born January 9th, 2000), better known by his stage name Toosii or Toosii 2x, is an American rapper and songwriter. Toosii signed to South Coast Music Group in early 2020, the same label that rose fellow North Carolina rapper DaBaby to prominence. He is known for songs such as Red Lights, Love Cycle, Poetic Pain, and Sapiosexual. He made a name for himself independently, releasing projects such as Label Me Diverse, Hell on Earth, and Why Not Now all in 2017. In the same year, he flew to LA with little money. During his almost month long stay, he met a record executive but didn’t sign. He then released the mixtapes Who Dat and My Shit Now. After signing to South Coast, he released the mixtape Platinum Heart in February 2020, following it up with Poetic Pain in September.

Early life and career

Grainger was born and grew up in Syracuse, New York but later relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina at the age of 13. It was in Raleigh where he began to seriously pursue his musical career.[1] He signed with the record label "South Coast Music Group" in 2019 and is now signed with Capitol Records as of 2021.[2] Toosii is known for his style of adding melodic sensibility alongside thoughtful lyrics. His latest project "Poetic Pain" debuted at #17 on the Billboard 200 chart in September of 2020 and features the RIAA certification Gold single "Love Cycle" with Summer Walker.[3][4]

In Raleigh, North Carolina Grainger was discovered by the South Coast Music Group (home of fellow North Carolina rapper DaBaby). Toosii was inspired to try music by both his brother and father and spent a period of time homeless before his career began to further develop.[5] He then released his "Who Dat" mixtape on April 30, 2019 which was followed by the 13-track "Platinum Heart" mixtape on February 6, 2020. Platinum Heart reached #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Album chart upon its initial release. The Platinum Heart mixtape was later reissued as a 20-track deluxe version.

On September 18, 2018, his third South Coast Music Group-affiliated Poetic Pain mixtape was released as his first project on Capitol Records.[6] His signing announcement was made on September 30, following the release of his official video for "Love Cycle" with Summer Walker.[7] Toosii was credited with 50,000 US adjusted sales and over 250 million combined global streams in 2020 at the time of this release. "Love Cycle" was later certified as a US Gold single by the Recording Industry Association of America on January 11, 2021.
