Need Article on Family
You should have articles on the Batiste family, the Lastie family and other New Orleans musical families. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.248.172.32 (talk) 23:30, 24 August 2011 (UTC)
30 under 30?
If he was born in 1963, why would he be listed on a 30 under 30 list in 2012? The source for him being chosen for a "30 under 30" is a dead link. There's also no mention of who chose him as a "30 under 30". Forbes magazine? Either his DOB or this accolade is incorrect. 170.28.224.10 (talk) 21:14, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
External links modified
Hello fellow Wikipedians,
I have just added archive links to one external link on Jon Batiste. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}}
after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}}
to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:
- Added archive http://web.archive.org/web/20110714121744/http://www.movado.com/futurelegends to http://www.movado.com/futurelegends
When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}

Career problems
The section on Career was written correctly on November 8. On November 9, changes were made that resulted in the first two sentences being ungrammatical and nonsensical. Both seem to be the result of incomplete editing. The subsequent parts of the section are worse now than they were on the 8th.
I don't know enough about how to edit these things (maintaining footnotes, etc.), but the version on November 8 was good and probably did not need revision. Reverting to that would fix the problems, if someone knows how to do it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Glm39 (talk • contribs) 17:33, 11 November 2019 (UTC)
Images
Had the opportunity to see Batiste play in Brooklyn a couple days ago, on Juneteenth. He's been playing semi-regular shows in the area lately connected to the George Floyd protests. I took some pictures that I think came out pretty well, so putting them here for other editors to add/replace as they see fit. These are just great! It must have really been a treat to see/hear him play. These make such a nice gallery that I wonder if there would be an objection if I would place perhaps six of them into his article as is with perhaps a short note about the pandemic and how he is working through it. What do other think? Gandydancer (talk) 16:38, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
PS: Looking at them, I think the first six are the best (and it's really good that the mask is seen in some of them). Gandydancer (talk) 16:42, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
- User:Rhododendrites I'm not all together happy with what I have done here. I had hoped for input from others. It is unusual to add a gallery other than at the bottom of the page and I did it anyway. Please offer some feedback. Gandydancer (talk) 20:16, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
- Well I got rid of the gallery after all and instead added a quote that's much too long...going batty I guess due to the isolation that I'm so sick of... Gandydancer (talk) 03:37, 27 June 2020 (UTC)
- Perhaps I would suggest resizing the photos, or choosing one, as they take over quite a large portion of the page for formatting purposes? CaffeinAddict (talk) 04:34, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
- I made them a little smaller. What do you think? Gandydancer (talk) 05:29, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

Parents?
The Batiste family article cites an NPR source indicating Jon Batiste's father to be Michael Batiste, "[Jon] Batiste has been in the zone since before he was born. He comes from a long line of New Orleans musicians, including his father, Michael, a bassist who performed with Jackie Wilson and Isaac Hayes on the “Chitlin’ Circuit” in the ’60s and ’70s. His dad also co-founded the Batiste Brothers Band: seven brothers who played R&B, soul, funk and New Orleans music. He says his father was his first mentor..."
The article cited here for Jean and Estelle- https://www.nola.com/entertainment_life/music/article_8dac4835-ba81-5898-9da3-9c0bd876fc9e.htmlhttps://www.nola.com/entertainment_life/music/article_8dac4835-ba81-5898-9da3-9c0bd876fc9e.html - seems to be referring to the parents of Paul Batiste, the family historian mentioned in that article: "Paul Batiste, though, who operates as an unofficial historian for the family and who co-published a book about the same, has a theory as to how all that talent could come from one bloodline. "I've thought about that a lot of times, because I know this is the reason: Captive audience," he laughs. "It's that simple." Growing up "two people shy of a baseball team," Batiste and his six brothers were hearing their parents play music before they could sit at a piano or a set of drums themselves. His parents, Estella and Jean Batiste, met in New York but moved to New Orleans, where they owned a grocery store and a hardware store in the Ninth Ward."
This would allow for Michael Batiste, as per the Batiste family article, to be the father of Jon.
