Jamileh Sheykhi (Template:Lang-fa, April 30, 1930[1] – May 23, 2001) was an Iranian actress and the mother of actor Atila Pesyani.
Career
She made her stage debut in 1957 and began film acting with Shipwreck (1975, Nosrat Karimi). As a pioneer and veteran character actress of Iranian theatre and cinema, she performed in a number of films with reputable directors. Sheykhi had a distinguished screen appearance in Travellers (1991, Bahram Bayzai) and won the Best Actress award at the International Fajr Film Festival. Her father, Sheikh Vinsky, was from Kazakhstan and migrated to Georgia and then the Caucasus for unknown reasons. In 1919, two years after the October Revolution in Russia, Colonel Jahangir, Sheikh Vinsky, emigrated to Iran with his wife Saadat and their three daughters, who were born in Georgia and the Caucasus; 11 years later, in May 1309, the fourth daughter, Jamileh Sheikhi, was born in Tabriz.
