John Gordillo is a stand up comedian and director, known for his work directing and producing tour shows, specials and Tv series for Eddie Izzard, Reginald D Hunter, Josh Widdicombe, Dylan Moran, Michael Mcintyre, Mark Steel, Seann Walsh, Shazia Mirza and Sean Lock among others.[1][2]

As a performer, he co-created & hosted two series of The RDA aka The Recommended Daily Allowance, an experimental talk show for BBC3.[3] In 2016, his work-in-progress stand up set won Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival.[4]

His strongest work examines issues of family and parenting. As a comedian, his show about his father Divide and Congawas one of the most acclaimed of the Edinburgh fringe[5][6][7][8]and his show about his stepdaughter Cheap Shots at the Defenceless toured internationally and won 5 star reviews.[9]

In 2017, he directed & co-devised Ugly Chief at Battersea Arts Centre with performance artist Victoria Melody and her father, TV antiques dealer Mike Melody. The show was a seriocomic examination of death and the tensions of a father-daughter relationship. The piece was unanimously acclaimed with 4 and 5 star reviews across the board.[10][11]

In April 2021, he released a YouTube series. A Podcast For Kel claiming to be the truth about the suicide of a woman he said had been his stepdaughter. After her death in 2018, Gordillo became the target of a social media witchhunt, accusing him of murder and paedophilia. The series is a forensic examination of the events which led to her death. A second series is announced in 2021.[12]
