JumpCloud is a U.S.-based enterprise software company.[5] The company headquarters are in Denver.[6] The company was formally launched in 2013 at TechCrunch Disrupt Battlefield as an automated server management tool.[7] JumpCloud’s modern cloud based directory platform makes it easier for businesses to securely manage users identity, devices, and access.[8]
History
JumpCloud received a seed round of funding of 1.2 million in December 2012, before closing a $3 million Series A round led by investors Foundry Group and Bullet Time Ventures (now Techstars) in January 2014.[9]
The company completed Series B funding in August 2015 with a 4.3 million investment.
JumpCloud raised a $20 million series C round in November 2017 from investors OpenView, a Boston-based firm focused on expansion-stage companies, and Boulder-based Foundry Group, which had previously invested in JumpCloud.[10]
In May 2019 the company announced that it had partnered with General Atlantic for a series D round of financing of $50 million, with existing investors Foundry Group and OpenView Partners also participating. JumpCloud announced in November 2020 that funds managed by BlackRock led its $75 million Series E funding, with participation from existing investor General Atlantic.[12] Shortly after in January 2021, the company shared that it had added $25 million to its Series E financing, closing the oversubscribed growth round at $100 million, with additional investment from an affiliate of H.I.G. Growth Partners, OurCrowd.[13]
Before the pandemic, JumpCloud moved into a new office in Louisville, Colorado. Since COVID-19, the company has become fully remote, allowing JumpCloud to hire talent nationwide.[14]
Product history
In July 2015 JumpCloud integrated Google Apps into its cloud-based directory services.[15]
JumpCloud announced the release of AD Sync in July 2019, the latest update to its Active Directory Integration feature.[16]
In May 2020 JumpCloud announced the general availability of its support of Apple’s Mobile Device Management(MDM) Services, extending JumpCloud’s abilities to manage Apple macOS devices via the MDM protocol and support for deployment through Apple’s Device Enrollment Plan (DEP).[17]
In August 2020 the company announced the release of the JumpCloud app for Windows, the latest update to its patent-pending strategy for enabling secure credential and identity management from an employee's device.[18] JumpCloud also released a certification program for IT Admins that month through the newly launched JumpCloud University, providing essential knowledge to its base of IT admins, system administrators, MSPs and DevOps engineers.[19]
JumpCloud announced cloud directory verified integration with Okta in September 2020 and is now available through the Okta Integration Network (OIN).[20]
In October 2020 the company announced integration with Slack, Salesforce, Atlassian, GitHub, and AWS, providing streamlined user management to the most common business applications.[21]
Prior to Apple's release of macOS Big Sur, JumpCloud announced compatibility in November 2020.[22]
JumpCloud introduced conditional access policies in December 2020 to its directory platform, enabling IT admins to adopt Zero Trust security from the same cloud platform that they use to manage and securely connect users to IT resources.[23]
