M.P. Abdussamad Samadani (1959 - ) A thinker, orator, writer, public servant and parliamentarian, Mr. Samadani is actively engaged in socio cultural and literary activities and is an icon of Kerala and the Malayali Community. He stands for humanitarianism and social communal harmony, pluralism, pacifism. He knows English, Arabic, Sanskrit, Hindi, Urdu and Persian languages.

Personal Life

Abdussamad Samadani was born as son of Abdul Hameed Haidari and Ottakath Sainab on 1st January 1959 at Kottakkal, Malappuram district.[1]


Career

B.A. degree with 1st rank and  M.A. with 2nd rank.  After his post graduation, he acquired  MPhil and LLB degrees.

Political Career

     A two time Parliament member (Rajya Sabha: 1994-2000, 2000-2006), Samadani was a member of Kerala Legislative Assembly (Kottkkal constituency 2011-2016) too. He was nominated as the Convenor of the Parliamentary Sub-committee on  Universities and  Higher Education and  Member of Central Advisory Board of Education, Government of India.  He was also  a member of the Indian’s official and parliamentary delegations to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria and Jordan, appointed by the Union government. He also worked as a member of Kerala Sahitya Academy  and Kerala Kalamandalam.He elected as Member of parliament, Lok Sabha representing Malappuram (Lok Sabha constituency) through by polls held in 2021.[2]
     

As an Orator

     Besides being a renowned orator par excellence Samadani is well known as an expert in translating the  speeches  of   famous political and cultural personalities of the country .  He  has translated the speeches of leaders  like Dr. Manmohan Singh, Soniya Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Farooq Abdulla, Gulam Nabi Azad, Kapil Sibal, Mani Shankar Aiyer, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Nitish Kumar, Dr. Karan Singh, Gulzar, Raj Babbar, and the deceased great man including  Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadvi, Arjun Singh, Kuldeep Nayyar, Pandit Jasraj, Ali Sardar Jafri, Padmashree Shamsu Rahman Farooqi. Shri M.T.Vasuvdevan Nair called him ‘Vashya Vachassu’ (The Enchanting Word)

  • Samadani was also honoured by the Zamorin Kozhikode P.K. Ettanunni Raja at the ‘Revathi Pattathanam’.
