Hermenegildo B. Reyes, was a Boy Scouts of the Philippines Scouting notable, Filipino educator, lawyer, and electrical engineer. Reyes served on the World Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement from 1961 to 1967.

Biography

Reyes was born to Vicente Tantoco Reyes and Olympia San Agustin-Reyes in Bulacan.

Education

He graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University with Bachelor of Arts in 1914[1] and earned his Ll.B from the University of the Philippines; thereafter being admitted to Integrated Bar of the Philippines in November 18, 1935. He also graduate Bachelor in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, New York in 1918.[2]

Career

Throughout his career, Reyes handled a lot of positions from different institutions. Reyes was appointed Assistant Professor of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department in 1918[2] and is a former President of the UP Electrical Engineers Alumni Association.

Reyes served as the Far Eastern University's second University President from 1945 to 1946 when it re-opened after the Pacific War[3]. In 1951, he co-founded the University of the East and served as one of it's Board Members[4]. And in 1969, he served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Central Colleges of the Philippines.[5]

Reyes was awarded the Bronze Wolf Award, the only distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, awarded by the World Scout Committee or exceptional services to world Scouting, in 1967.[6]

Death

Reyes died in 1983.
