A local chieftain, Dalvoy Devraj , constructed this in 1730. It was further laid over with a metre- gauge link connecting Mysuru to Nanjangud in 1899.

This legendary bridge is built in artistic gothic style . The bridge is 225 meters long with 56 piers. The last metre gauge train running over it was in on January 17, 2007 next to which Authority decided to close traffic in it.[2]

Mysuru Division of South Eastern Railway is known for its love of respecting heritages. They have decided to renovate the bridge across River Kabini of temple town Nanjangud. She said she was mesmerized by seeing the awestruck artistic beauty of the bridge as well as the magical engineering that conserved a 300 years old bridge survive so much operational and environmental onslaughts, still stood strong.[5]
