Sam Chui Kai-Sing (/ˈtʃuːiː/; Chinese: 崔佳星; born 7 November 1980) is a Chinese-Australian aviation and travel vlogger, photographer, and author. He has authored four books including Air1, Air2, Air 3 and Air747.[1] Sam Chui is also a YouTube content creator with over two million subscribers and member of the famous blogger list.[2][3] He currently lives in Dubai, UAE.
Early life
Sam Chui was born on 7 November 1980 in Beijing, China.[4] When he was a child, his parents moved to Hong Kong. As a teenager, Chui often visited Kai Tak Airport and watched planes land and take off from which arose his passion for aviation.[2] He studied at King's College in Hong Kong for his secondary school and University in Australia. He moved to UAE in early 2011 to work in one of the largest Sovereign Wealth Fund.[5]
Career
In 1999, Chui started a website, publishing photos of aircraft. It has since expanded to include current events regarding aviation. He is known for Los Angeles International Airport overhead pictures captured from helicopters. In 2007, he started his YouTube channel and became well-known. Some of his videos gathered an excess of 12 million views.[5] Chui has traveled to over 100 countries and flown over 2000 flights. He travels more than 300,000 miles every year to test out flights and share his reviews.[3] In 2019, Chui was invited onto a luxurious Boeing 747-SP[6] private jet owned previously by the Qatari Royal Family and he flew four hours from Hamilton, Canada, to Marana, Arizona as the only passenger.[7] He presently runs his own blog and provides aviation commentary to global media outlets such as Bloomberg News[citation needed] and CNN.[citation needed]
