Undisclosed paid editing warning

Information icon

Hello JalenPhotos2. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Michael J Coudrey, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:JalenPhotos2. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=JalenPhotos2|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Template:Z159 Celestina007 (talk) 22:36, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please do explain your connection with the subject of the article? How are you both acquainted? Celestina007 (talk) 22:38, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I repeat, as I can see you are still online, how are you and the subject of the article connected? Celestina007 (talk) 22:46, 17 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi User:Celestina007, sorry just seeing this. I was not online at the time of your message. I don't have any undisclosed financial stake in the creation of the article. I saw there wasn't one, and I created it. While I understand you wanting to ensure of Wikimedia Terms of Use compliance, I really don't appreciate the hostility in your line of questioning. Thanks. JalenPhotos2 (talk) 21:45, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes you were online and there’s a method we use to know this, so to say otherwise is deliberate being deceptive. I ask again how are you and the subject of your article connected? Celestina007 (talk) 22:17, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As previously advised, your edits, such as the edit you made to Michael J Coudrey, give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:JalenPhotos2, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=JalenPhotos2|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Template:Z160 Celestina007 (talk) 22:13, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Celestina007, I have already stated above that I am not being directly or indirectly compensated for my edits. You claimed that "Yes you were online and there’s a method we use to know this, so to say otherwise is deliberate being deceptive." My wikipedia page might have been open, but I certainly was not online at my computer. My apologies for any confusion. I am not going to be bullied into adding a paid tag when I have never been paid to make any edits or create articles. I hope this clarifies your allegations and hope I can carry on editing, because I actually tend to really enjoy it. And to be honest, these kinds of hostilities make the user experience much less satisfying. Please ping if you have any other questions. Thanks. JalenPhotos2 (talk) 22:28, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
User:Celestina007, may you please confirm that I can continue editing and this matter has been resolved? JalenPhotos2 (talk) 22:30, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
