National regulatory authorities have granted emergency use authorizations for eighteen COVID-19 vaccines. Six of those have been approved for emergency or full use by at least one WHO-recognized stringent regulatory authority (Oxford–AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech, Sinopharm-BBIBP, Moderna, Sinovac, and Johnson & Johnson).[1]

The Oxford–AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, sold under the brand names Vaxzevria[3] and Covishield, is a viral vector vaccine[4] produced by the British University of Oxford, British-Swedish company AstraZeneca, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations.[4][5][6] Two countries, Denmark and Norway, permanently halted the use of the Oxford–AstraZeneca vaccine due to a small number of reports of a rare blood clot disorder.[7][8]
