The Cape Coral Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the city of Cape Coral, Florida.
History
The Cape Coral Fire District was established in 1962. The District's first station had a groundbreaking in October of 1962. An ambulance was donated once the station was completed and a John Beam Class A Pumper was ordered in January of 1964. In August of 1970, Cape Coral was incorporated and the fire district was abolished the following year. In 1971, the City of Cape Coral Fire Department was established and started constructed on Station 2 the following year. Over the next 50 years, the CCFD would build 11 stations.
Divisions
The CCFD is broken into 5 divisions and one bureau.
Administration
Administration is responsible for the leadership of the Department, budgeting, quality assurance, and creating policies and procedures.
Operations
The Division of Operations is the largest division of the Department with over 200 members who are primarily responsible for responding to emergency incidents.
Professional Standards
The Division of Professional Standards has oversight in ensuring that the highest level of emergency service is provided to the City of Cape Coral. This includes training and education, state and professional compliance, hiring and promotions, and professional development.
Logistics
The Division of Logistics maintains the Department's fleet and facilities and oversees procurement of supplies.
Emergency Management
The Division of Emergency Management is responsible for assisting the City with preparation for, response to, recovery from, and mitigation of natural and man-made disasters.
Life Safety
The Bureau of Fire Prevention is charged with upholding national, state, and local fire codes and ordinances for life safety and property preservation.
Special Operations
The CCFD operates a Marine Unit, Hazmat Unit, and a USAR Unit.

The CCFD Marine Unit is made up of 4 boats and
Hazardous Materials Unit
The CCFD Hazmat Unit is trained in areas of hazard pre-planning, chemistry, event mitigation, hazard analysis, and decontamination. The Unit is comprised of 57 technicians and one Hazmat vehicle located out of Station 8.
USAR/Technical Rescue
The CCFD has 11 certified technical rescue technicians who are a part of Florida USAR TF 6.
Emergency Medical Services
The Cape Coral Fire Department operates 6 BLS Rescue Units whose primary responsibility is to respond to medical incidents.
Lee County EMS operates 10 medic units throughout the City.
