I try to help maintain articles when I find an error, but I don't typically write articles. I've been adding wikilinks to a lot of articles that need them recently. When I write an article, it's typically about something I like or know a lot about. I remain neutral in my writing, and I think I do a good job of removing bias. I wouldn't write an article I don't like the subject of though, since that wouldn't be fun at all.
