Wikipedia:Requests for page protection
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Something more than semi-protection: It was semi-protected in September because of disruptive editing, but vandalism continues. Three reverts have happened just yesterday and today. 64.203.186.75 (talk) 19:49, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection - Persistent vandalism again of this article, happens all the time the article has protection level expire - can we have the article so it’s protected from unregistered users or spam user accounts from editing? If not then I would recommend semi-protection for a period of either 6 months or a year. RM-Taylor (talk) 18:03, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Wretchskull (talk) 21:21, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Leschnei (talk) 22:22, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- Not persistent or vandalism (by definition), only a single IP editor in a content dispute during the last week. Previous to this, last edit was in 2016. IP in question has been blocked for 72 hours, if disruptive edits continue after block expires, report to WP:AIV. Does not justify page protection at the moment. - Adolphus79 (talk) 23:45, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent high level of vandalism. Main page article. 142.117.34.192 (talk) 23:19, 30 June 2021 (UTC)
- I have a second opinion. The multiple IPs also adding a promotional content about heat wave and tourism which violates what Wikipedia is not. Some of these edits were reverted by LizardJr8. 180.242.14.83 (talk) 23:30, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – After a 6 month protection for promotional editwarring was applied at Mosquito laser, IP has jumped here to continue selfpromoting. Note this is block evasion by User:Ronildarius. Please protect this one as well. MrOllie (talk) 23:59, 30 June 2021 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Moxy- 00:16, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
- Comment: Not persistent or vandalism, single IP editor in a content dispute made only 3 edits in June, and 3 in May. Otherwise, less than a dozen edits to the page this year (including reverting said IP). If disruption persists, warn IP and report to WP:AIV... - Adolphus79 (talk) 01:18, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Editors "fixing" the name's spelling, breaking images and reference URLs in the process, and lying about what they're doing. - Sumanuil (talk) 00:34, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP users keep making disruptive edits on the page and leave hissyfits and personal attacks on the edit summaries. This has been done for months already. I recommend semi-protecting the page for one year. ASTIG😎 (ICE T • ICE CUBE) 01:15, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – For a few days now some IPs have been vandalizing the article, adding unsourced information, changing it format, etc. It seems that the best option now is protecting the page until things settle down. SirEdimon Dimmi!!! 04:24, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent Disruptive Editing. Multiple disruptive edits by adding unconstructive information by IP range 2a00:23c4:1394:9c00, suspect same person using different IPs. Issue ongoing since at least 23rd June 2021. Textualism (talk) 10:53, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Multiple edits from various IPs keep changing his club to Omonoia with incomplete edits. I have looked across the internet and haven't found any source. In my edit summaries, I've asked them to provide a source if it is true because I haven't found anything. The IP is constantly changing, so a talk page message wouldn't really work. He is still listed as an Elche player on the Elche website and I haven't found any references from internet searches. RedPatch (talk) 12:33, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. IronManCap (talk) 12:35, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent replacement of sourced content with unsourced claims. The article has a long history of sockpuppetry. Woodroar (talk) 12:51, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Temporary extended confirmed protection: Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund have today agreed a fee for the transfer of Sancho, but he still has to pass a medical and sign a contract, which will happen after the European Championship currently taking place. The article is already subject to plenty of edits saying the transfer is already complete, which it is not, hence I am requesting temporary semi-protection for the next month. – PeeJay 13:40, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

- Yes, please extend to confirmed protection. – PeeJay 15:38, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
- Please requesting extend protected/full protection one week only for the article. I believe their edits, including one extended user will be died out. 180.242.14.83 (talk) 14:22, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Some IP keeps removing the poster from the infobox and replacing it with a still. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:44, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Wretchskull (talk) 15:49, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Semi-protection: An IP will not stop adding original research to the article, despite my repeated attempts on his talk page to communicate with him. His only response was "Yeah I put in an actual source yesterday and this dude took it off even though I had an actual source" and some rant on my own talk page where he claimed he was the source because he lives in the area. Benicio2020 (talk) 15:50, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

I am hoping that semi-protection will spur the IP to discuss the changes in more detail and understand why his original research cannot be sourced to a map. This is related to the Route 54 article that I also requested protection on. Benicio2020 (talk) 15:50, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced information. BlameRuiner (talk) 16:34, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing. Necctaylor (chat) 17:27, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Pending changes protection: Persistent IP vandalism. – IPs consistently add unsourced and poorly-typed information. L33tm4n (talk) 17:30, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Permanent semi-protection: Constant, persistent, chronic, massive and incorrigible vandalism going on for years. This includes long-term sock puppetry (especially by the 2a02:*** IP hopper), gaming the system, constantly changing his nationality despite the clear warning that it cannot be changed without discussion, ignoring the clear rules on this and the officially reached consensus, persistently adding wrong information (like repeatedly changing his correct birthplace to the wrong one), and many other disruptive edits by clueless IP editors. The pending changes protection is desperately insufficient, editors constantly have to keep reverting the malicious edits. This page obviously needs permanent semi-protection. This is not a temporary problem and it will not go away after a week, month or a year.—J. M. (talk) 17:50, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Sustained vandalism since 2017. User:Yallappa Nandi was eventually indeffed yesterday but has since used an IP to vandalise the article. See diff. This is WP:DUCK sockpuppetry and I feel protecting the article is the only way to stop this. Spiderone(Talk to Spider) 18:04, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: BLP policy violations. ― Tartan357 Talk 19:22, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – All IP/non-AC edits in the past month have been non-constructive, including one instance of subtle vandalism that slipped through the cracks for a month. -- Tamzin (she/they) | o toki tawa mi. 19:27, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Genocide Watch states that: „A genocide of the Palestinian people by Israel is underway in Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister General Yoav Gallant have demonstrated their intent to destroy a substantial portion of the civilian population of Gaza. Israel is committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide in Gaza. It is also committing crimes against humanity against Palestinians in the West Bank.” See https://www.genocidewatch.com/single-post/genocide-emergency-gaza-and-the-west-bank-2024 This information should be added to first paragraph of Gaza_genocide#NGOs_and_intergovernmental_organisations Jakub Onderka (talk) 21:59, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
