Stanimir Atanasov (Template:Lang-bg) (born 20 April 1976 in Rousse) is an athlete from Bulgaria. He competes in flatwater canoeing.
A stalwart of the Bulgarian Canadian canoe team for over a decade, Atanasov has been a regular finalist in the major international events. He won a world championship bronze medal in 1995 (C-4). He was a European bronze medallist in 1997 (C-2) and 2002 (C-1).
Atanasov competed at his first Olympics in Athens in 2004, representing Bulgaria in both C-1 events (500m and 1000m).
In the 1000m, he finished second in his heat with a time of 3:55.590. In the semifinal, he fell to sixth place with a time of 4:05.664 and did not qualify for the final.
He enjoyed greater success in the 500m. He placed fifth in his initial heat of the 500 metre with a time of 1:52.917, qualifying for the semifinals. In the semifinal, he finished second with a time of 1:50.631, advancing to the final. There, Atanasov finished in 1:49.759, placing eighth.
Atanasov is 178 cm (5'10) tall and weighs 89 kg (196 lbs). He is a member of the Lokomotiv Canoe/Kayak Club in Rousse. His brother Dimitar is also a member of the Bulgarian national squad.
