Luís Carlos Machado Mata (born 6 July 1997) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Polish club Pogoń Szczecin, as a defender.

Football career

On 7 August 2016, Mata made his professional debut with Porto B in a 2016–17 LigaPro match against Aves.[1]

After a few loan moves to Portimonense and Cartagena, Luis Mata left Porto to join Polish side Pogon Szczecin on a free transfer in 2020. In the season 2020/21 he made 18 league appearances with Pogon Szczecin, an additional cup appearance against PIast Gliwice and 2 appearances with Pogon Szczecin II in the 3 Liga. He also recorded one assist against Legia Warszawa in a 4-2 loss for his team.

International Career

Luis Mata has made several appearances with Portugal's youth national teams but he has never been capped for the men's national team. He has played one game for Portugal's U21 team against Norway U21, five games for Portugal's U19 team against Switzerland U19 (x2), Poland U19 (x2) and Norway U19 and three games for Portugal's U18 team against the Republic of Ireland's U18 (x2) and Norway U18. He has made a few more appearances for Portugal's U16, U17 and U15 teams scoring a total of 8 goals in 38 games.
