Talk:UPN
Still UPN?
the upn logo and name were dropped a few monts ago in NY, theyve just been calling the channel "my 9" here (its channel 9) with a logo that basically is the word 'my' and the number '9'.
Atlanta duopoly?
I know that UPN has an O&O in Atlanta, Georgia (WUPA). However, as far as I know, that station did not become a part of a duopoly as a result of the CBS-Viacom merger, as CBS/Viacom did not (and does not) own any other TV stations there -- and even if it did at this moment, it still wasn't a result of the merger. I reverted a first addition of this, but should it be removed again? --WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 20:59, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
- You are correct, sir... Meredith owns the CBS station here. And while there are plenty of rumors of CBS buying WGCL, it hasn't happened. So WUPA remains the only Atlanta television property that Viacom owns (though Infinity does own three radio stations in town). --Mhking 02:22, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Future in doubt
UPN's future is no longer in doubt. It was confirmed a few months ago that it will merge with the WB. The 'Future in Doubt' article either needs to be re-written or deleted.--J3wishVulcan 22:28, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. With its future no longer in doubt, something better should replace it. Unfortunately, I don't know of a better title for that section. --WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 23:00, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
I once replaced it with an article called 'Merdure', but someone(presumably the author of 'Future in Doubt) promptly reverted back to his article within a day. --J3wishVulcan 21:30, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
It seems that UPN is only on parts of the day. After 9 PM it changes.
Well, I renamed a good amount of the sections. Hope everyone agrees with the changes I made (and that they don't get reverted the same way as J3wishVulcan's changes did). -Whomp 02:07, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
The unattributed "Under Paid Negro" term doesn't need to be here; it is unencyclopedic, plus unattributed. --Mhking 03:14, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
Network Shut Down
The article for The CW has a section about UPN and The WB shutting down. Should the UPN page have this as well? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by StephenK (talk • contribs) 22:12, June 19, 2006 (UTC).
- The intro mentions that UPN will close when CW debuts. Unless you meant something else, I think it's there already. --WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 22:36, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
I was actually referring to the actual shut down process of the network (e.g.: several stations have begun to preemt programming), go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_cw#Repercussions to see what I mean. (Sorry about the confusion)
Stations to Not Carry UPN's Final 13 Days
The stations joining My Network TV will begin showing MNTV programming September 5. However, UPN doesn't shut down until September 17. How will the stations handle this? Will they carry UPN programming in a different time block, or just drop the affiliation all together? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.104.224.115 (talk • contribs)
Title Change
In Chicago, UPN changed the station name several times. From UPN to Power 50 to to My 50.--Always Gotta Keep it Real, Cute 1 4 u 20:16, 31 July 2006 (UTC)
Is upn on Guam?
South Park and The Simpsons
My UPN channel show South Park and The Simpsons every weekday. Does this only happen in Maine or something? -Let There Be Rock

Not duopolies in large American cities
" in several large American cities, the local CBS and UPN stations are operated as "duopolies." "
Not sure what the point was, but there are no CBS duopolies in large American cities ... that would require that they be the only or the decisively dominant media outlets. All large American cities have ABC, NBC, FOX, and many cable outlets.
- Actually, as defined by the FCC, a duopoly is the same entity owning two full-power stations in the same market.SWalkerTTU 03:49, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
Even corrected, it would not be a terribly interesting point. It's not news, it's mind-rotting prime time TV, just like all the other networks. ;) And the owners of the station, not UPN, presumably determine what is done with local news coverage. flux.books 20:48, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
Current Event?
Any objections to adding the "current event" box for the next 2 weeks w/ the closure/Smackdown on Tribune stuff going on? --David Bixenspan 23:19, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
I have an idea
Maybe someone whos knows how to do it (I dont), should make a gallery of UPN logos.Yet-another-user 02:14, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Add most-watched programs of the network per season since 2001-2002?
I recently added a table of the most-watched programs of the network of the 2001-2002 season. I meant to include the TV seasons following 2001-2002, up until the present. However, another Wiki user had deleted it shortly thereafter. My question to anyone here is should tables of the most-watched programs per season since 2001-2002 be included? I believe that such an addition is informative and an interesting read. Let me know what you think. -- Dechnique23 00:54, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
A Clear Vandalism
So, I'm just going to revert the entire article, because the changes made to the article are clearly not true. Some are mixed info with The WB, and it keeps saying a "relaucnhc of UPN". So, Just letting ya'll know. Kdupuy9 04:24, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
- This "launch returned" vandalism hasn't stopped -- I just reverted it. I think this needs to be dealt with ASAP, as this person probably won't be stopping anytime soon. --WCQuidditch ☎ ✎ 23:42, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
