Dr. Justin Vélez-Hagan (Ph.D.)[1] is a policy analyst and author of the books, The Paradox of Fiscal Austerity[2]Velez-Hagan, Justin. "Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group". Rowman & Littlefield. Retrieved 3 August 2017.</ref>[3][4][5] He is a frequent news and opinion contributor, having contributed articles to Fox News,[6] Forbes,[7] and The Hill newspaper in Washington, D.C.,[8] among others. He also founded the National Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce, based in Washington, D.C., and currently serves as its executive director.[9][10][11][12] Vélez-Hagan received a BS in Finance from the University of Louisville College of Business, an MBA from Arizona State University, and a Ph.D. in Economic Policy from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. As a former member of the United States Air Force Reserve with the 459th Air Refueling Wing, Vélez-Hagan was called to active duty and deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in 2012 during Operation Enduring Freedom.[13][14][15]
