Johannes Brahms

Sixteen Waltzes for Piano, four hands, Op. 39 is a piano duet written by Johannes Brahms containing 16 short waltzes. Published in 1865, and dedicated to Eduard Hanslick, Sixteen Waltzes for Piano, four hand, sold very well, contrary to the composer's expectations. This piece also has been arranged for piano solo.

The 16 pieces are:

  • Waltz No. 1 in B major. Tempo giusto
  • Waltz No. 2 in E major.
  • Waltz No. 3 in G-sharp minor.
  • Waltz No. 4 in E minor. Poco sostenuto
  • Waltz No. 5 in E major. Grazioso
  • Waltz No. 6 in C-sharp major. Vivace
  • Waltz No. 7 in C sharp minor. Poco più Andante
  • Waltz No. 8 in B-flat major.
  • Waltz No. 9 in D minor.
  • Waltz No. 10 in G major.
  • Waltz No. 11 in B minor.
  • Waltz No. 12 in E major.
  • Waltz No. 13 in B major.
  • Waltz No. 14 in G-sharp minor.
  • Waltz No. 15 in A-flat major.
  • Waltz No. 16 in C-sharp minor.
